Hibs hope to sign former Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine. please log in to view this image Hibernian are hoping to sign 28-year-old defender Liam Fontaine, who was released by Bristol City in the summer. He could be a replacement for fellow Englishman Michael Nelson. The 34-year-old who has been at Easter Road since last August is the subject of interest from another club. Fontaine, who played in Scotland previously on loan to Kilmarnock from Fulham in 2005, could be in the Hibs squad to face Dumbarton in the League Cup on Tuesday evening. While at Craven Cottage, he was also farmed out to Yeovil Town and Bristol City. That latter switch led to permanent transfer in 2006 and he went on to make 279 appearances for the Robins. However, he spent five games back on loan from the English League One club to Yeovil last season as the Glovers were relegated from the Championship. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28935343 Good luck to Fonts, Decent bloke..
I hope Liam finds himself a decent club - I did not like the way he was treated in the latter stages of his City career
'I hope Liam finds himself a decent club - I did not like the way he was treated in the latter stages of his City career' Verbatim.
Became stale was going through the motions and picking up a tidy packet for going through the motions. did well earlier in his time here, the latter was not so good,
I also send best wishes to Liam and hope he regains the form he had in his earlier career at City. Never heard him complain throughout his time at City and as such was a model professional even when his form dipped and City struggled an example to some of the other players dotted around the leagues who think they are God's gift.
Scottish 2nd Division football?-, I would have thought he might be a bit better than that, especially after a couple of championship sides were looking at him- Never did quite rate him and admit to losing it with him, in the end, but never had a bad word for the club despite everything. Hope something works out. Clearly Yeovil didn't want him but League 1 or 2 is still standard for him.
IF he can regain his earlier talent, they will have the best defender in that league by a country mile. Nice bloke and model professional. Lost it at the end but he always gave 100% which is all you can ask. Best of luck to him.
Yes he was a great guy. I remember well a conversation I had with him. Intelligent person but down to earth. I´m not sure what went wrong as people say but the last few years have been turbulent to say the least . Perhaps he is the sort of person who works best during more positive times.
He's still a Championship quality defender, but his legs have gone. He's still got the brain for it, but something about his performances after previous injuries make me believe that he'll retire in the next few years and possibly move into coaching in the same way that LJ did.
