In terms of a DM I don't necessarily feel we will play anyone as a real sitting holding player unless we change our system. 4231 doesn't require a true holding player. What we lack though is ball winner and some physicality for when we need to dig deep and hold out. There's plenty of options but personally I would try to land... 1. Lars Bender 2. Carvalho 3. Gustavo 4 Khedira In terms of defence. I think Hoewedes would be the perfect signing for us.
If we get rid of Podolski, that frees up a big chunk of wages, thus making it more doable to pay Khedira that big money, plus if we get rid of Diaby, that frees up another 50k worth of wages, so we basically sort out that 150k wage for Khedira no problem.
Transfer activity/rumour seems to have come to a stand still regarding us. Seeing as ideally we need a CB, DM and a striker (especially know that Giroud might be out for a while) does the silence scare people. Personally I reckon we are working on deals in the back ground but are waiting to see if we qualify for the CL. Honestly I think we will see activity only after we beat Beskitas. How much will be the most interesting part.
Cavani and Carvalho please... then any other player who begins with 'Ca' just to make commentary amusing.
Hoewedes? No he's not slow. He's a centre back. Germany used him as a fullback because he can cover that position but he's best down the middle. Pretty similar to Ivanovic in terms of size/speed/strength.
You follow German football more than me so I'll take your word for it. I thought he looked slow and laboured in the WC, especially against Ghana though the entire defence looked ragged that day.
Well if we didn't need a striker before we sure as **** need one now. Sign a worldie please Arsene, and a quality ball winning midfielder whilst you're at it, oh and a CB. Cheers.
Roma defender Mehdi Benatia will have a medical with Bayern Munich tomorrow, according to Sky Sport Italia. Benatia, who had also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, will sign a five-year deal with Bayern for an initial fee of €26million (£20.7m). Once Benatia's move goes through, then Roma will likely announce the signing of Kostas Manolas after the Olympiakos defender underwent a medical this morning. Wasn't this dude linked to us?
Rumours are it fell through due to contract negotiations. But that could just be bullcrap and he was never on our radar.
Manolas has signed for Roma.It was on their official Twitter account. I read a story yesterday that Bayern had ended all negotiations over Benatia.
