I do have a little sympathy for the club in terms of making signings. When we are linked with players, the reaction is either one of "great player and we have no chance of getting him so don't waste the time in bothering", or "he is rubbish and we are looking like a Championship team". We are a club, which unfortunately are not quite as big as the top 7 or 8, but better than some of the smaller clubs, and hence we are caught in the middle of two way street.
Plus some of our fans expect us to get some big time Charlies when aren't big enough or have the money to pay the wages. We should give up on Townsend unless we are going to sell morgan.
Toby Alderweireld would make my day/window! Just what need at the back. A player similar to Cerci (I don't think we'll get Cerci) - something different in the final third with an eye for goal and pace- would also be welcome, although I suspect that if such a player is to come in it will likely be a loan (a good option in my opinion whilst Jay is injured and squad is rebuilding). Gnabry or Sinclair, for example, would fill avoid and give our attack better balance. I've long been a fan of Clasie but admit to not understanding his place in our system unless there is a departure of two.
Wanyama Morgan Clasie Cork/Reed Prowse Taider/Davis With Davis playing on the wing atm that isn't really over kill in the midfield area.
Morgan again (though I can't really see this) - feels like 2+2 = 5 http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2014/will-there-be-a-happy-ending-for-tottenham-hotspur-and-morgan-schneiderlin/
To hold on to any credibility, surely Les and Ron would rather shoot Morgan than let him leave for Spurs.
No but goals and assists = match winner. highest attempted shots in the league is not a match winner. Cork is more than capable of sending the ball over the bar, if we are counting that as being a match winner then put Cork in and give him the instruction shoot on sight. Will probably bring the very same stats i.e. as much of a match winner as Shaw was last season
Agreed. That paper have obviously gone, "Spurs want Schneiderlin, Saints want Townsend. Therefore let's make up an exchange deal." Nonsense.
This is obviously what Spurs are angling after, it just depends how much we want Townsend, Rather go for Remond to be honest, and save ourselves £10M and keep Morgan, but still have a feeling this could run all the way to deadline day.
With what Ralph and Ronald said, their credibility would be destroyed if we sold Morgan, and they'd be a fair way along to losing the fans. It can't happen.
