    Lads

Seeing as we have a self imposed transfer embargo (or is it a secret unofficial one??thats for another thread), I foresee the Mighty Ram getting serious match time next season.

Now I used to be the Ram's biggest critic as I thought he was tosh but to give him his due he has 100% commitment and passion but I feel has about as much ability with the ball as I have.

My question is, do we think he will be able to deliver next season or do we think that a combination of the Ram and a shaky Connolly will be our general undoing at the back?

I think Neil likes the lad, hence new contract, and will deploy the Ram to cover Hill when he tires and One Size when he gets injured 3 minutes into the Bolton game.

I sincerely hope the lad can do the business as I like his attitude but I fear the worst.

    Feed the Ram!

Think Gorkss is our No.1 centre half going into next season probably paired with Fitz. 1st replacement probably Connolly then Hill and then Ramage who imo got an extension due to his versitility across the backline.

Didn't he used to play CB - might we see him along-side Gorkss, if nobody else comes in ?

he's a better centre back than Hall, Connelly or Hill, he wont let anyone down and if we carry on this policy of not buying he would be my choice to partner Gorkks for the Bolton game

Possibly Camberwell, he is definately a better CB than RB thats for sure, just think he is well down the pecking order at the moment. If Fitz can keep himself fit and we sign no other CB as looks likely right now then I see a Gorky/Hall pairing for the start of the season.

He possibly is a better CB than Hall, Hill and Connolly but you have to remember this guy has been out for 12months with a horror injury, time will tell if he can still produce.

NW favours Hall although many here (me included) close our eyes when the ball's near him. Nonetheless Hall is prone to breaking a toenail and going out for 4 - 5 game periods and I can see the Ram being the rotating cover.

SAM82 - Come on now its only June. Plenty of time yet to get players in.

I notice today that Tommy Spurr has left Wednesday for an undiclosed fee to Donny. They won't be paying big money and he is a class act. Would like to have seen him at LR. Missed opportunity in my book.

Is anyone else still clinging onto a hope that Connolly will fulfil his potential and shine in the prem? I'd certainly rather Ramage as first reserve than Hall.

Connolly to shine in the Premiership, no way can see that based on a number of horror shows last season. He was more consistent in previous seasons as a full back.

Connolly suffered a loss of confidence part way through last season - but you can't get around the fact that he was a key player in the best defence in the Championship.

Ramage and Hall have both improved under NW - but Premiership? I have my doubts...

Don't really see Spurr as a missed opportunity , played in a struggling Wednesday side for years and now gone to Donny , not exactly gone to one of the big boys . Think we need to be aiming hire than this type of player , think that he is nop better than we have already got.

The fact that no-one can decide between 6 defenders who the best two are tells you that we have issues in the CB dept , and across the back four in general. We were ok last season as a good back four unit as its about strength and positional play in the CCC. Pace is Useful but you can get away without having it sometimes. None of the defenders formentioned in this article are blessed with pace and that is where i feel we may fall short in the PL. Hill and Orr are good solid fullbacks, but when one on one with a quick winger they will get found out badly. Connolly and Gorkss are fine when the ball is in front of them, but if they get the ball played over the top they are always struggling with the pace . Gradel showed this on the last day of the season, and on some of these bigger pitches away from home next season we will be found out badly.

Bassong is one i think we should go after , good defender, in his prime and lots of PL experience.

Ramage is a central defebner not a right back. he was signed as a CB not RB and although can play there, he would be a liability next season. Connolly - personally I hope he proves al the doubters wrong. Wenger didn't want to sell him to us and I just think he needs an "organiser" next to him to help him out at times.
He has the talent, but again his concentration level and confidence need to go up a couple of notches - and the crowd can help him with that!!

I prefer Connolly at right back if im honest. Hill's lack of pace against likes of every quick winger in the premiership scares me. If anything he could play centre half, is a proper beast!

Ramage reserve centre half, Hall will start. We need another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But with what money........................ Probably be going to see a few loans this year.

I fact; Walker on loan, Bruma on loan and you have probably got it.
