Freddy Adu had a fine showing for the US Men's National Team last week. I know he's a burnt out teen phenom, but he's still only 22. If he's okay with playing in the Turkish Second Division I'd bet he'd be willing to play in the English 2nd Division too. He'd be great backup for the midfield, and might even challenge for a start.

I'm adding him to my wishlist based on what I saw in 2 games.

How's going mate.........We have had reports from the Mirror reporting that he Had signed for Liverpool Then that he was going to sign for Arsenal that day. (all with in two days of each other) There was reported interest by Sunderland and according to sky sports even Tottenham had enquired. All the echo tends to do is to repeat one of them a day later. Lazy, Lazy reporting. I wonder if they have reported that our CEO is out in Italy at the moment?

I'm good thanks, Melbourne winters are similar to a good old English summer!

I don't know if you picked up on the sarcasm or not? ....but yeah, It's bloody ridiculous, The Echo should be ashamed of themselves.
I can just imagine the sports 'journalists' ( I use that term loosely ) getting into work everyday and throwing a dart to decide which story about Chambo from which national rag they will run with today....like you say, Lazy, lazy reporting.

Is this all some childish payback for NC banning them from St.Mary's or are they actually that lazy?

Yes I did pick up the sarcasm and yes I think they are that lazy.
Incidentally are you actually in Melborne it self or on the out skirts. Just wondered if you were anywhere near Melton. Its just half the population of Eastleigh and Fair Oak seemed to move out to there in the mid to late eighties. As did one of my best pals and his family.

I'm in Melbourne itself, a suburb called Northcote....not sure where Melton is?...I'm yet to meet one English person, met plenty of Scots though. Beautiful city that, as much as I love the Saints, craps all over Southampton<laugh>

Clayton Donaldson? The guy is 27 and has never played any higher than league 1. Why the hell would we sign him for 1 million. Funniest rumour I have heard so far.

Guess it's a shame Billy Sharp turned down the chance to join us (It looks that way), but it shows we are willing to spend some cash!

Now it has been comfirmed we have money to spend, why not just give Brizzle what they want for Maynard and get it done?

What's the difference between our £3.25m bid for Sharp and a potential £4m bid for the superior Maynard? I say let's get him. And maybe he will actually come here if we get a bid accepted :/

Couldn't agree more Jdub. I think Leicester had a £4 million bid rejected though. So it would take more like £4.5 million to prize him away from city I would say.

someone mentioned on the echo comments that sharp may only be suited to being a 'big fish in a small pond' so maybe it is best we leave it there?

i am still interested how the maynard situation is going. that said "L" have probably snapped him up already and their PR dept are just working through the backlog of incoming players they have signed and havent announced it yet.

Well I'm glad you've left. I bet like most ex pats you spend your time justifying your move to Australia to other expats. When in reality this is the best country in the world. It's environment, culture and history makes it so. Best comedy, music, TV and nights out in the world. At the price of a little rain.

And yes I have lived in Australia - nice place to visit - but never stay.

    Southampton craps all over Melbourne.

Hahaha....thanks for that, made me chuckle.

Why did you start ranting on about countries? I didn't say Australia was better than England and frankly that kind of patriotic bullshit doesn't wash with me anyway.

As far as the comment about Southampton goes, it was meant to be tongue in cheek, hence the smiley face and anyway, REALLY??!!.....come on, I love Southampton, I was born there, my family live there and I'll always consider it home but Melbourne is the major cultural capital of Australia, most cities fail to compete.

as the title says, according to an article, linked by a member of the Doncaster Free Press, sharp has rejected the chance to move down south. http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk...news_sharp_rejects_southampton_move_1_3522862
if true, then it is quite disappointing, but personally i feel that we should go for a cb or cm before a striker. what does everyone else think?

apologies, just noticed this subject has been discussed on the rumor mill thread
