So what team should we select on Wednesday evening? The intended starting line up for Saturday to give them another match of acclimatising to the new system? The new boys and those returning from injury to get more match time under their belts? Those that have not played so far so they are ready to step in if required? The kids to have a look to see if they are ready to step up? I favour a combination of the new boys and returnees who most need a game, along with those challenging for a starting berth on Saturday, with a selection of the kids on the bench to come on later in the match. Players such as Max Ehmer may just become important as this season wears on, it would be a mistake to completely ignore them.
Im just thankful we can't go to that one! Normally we would go, but perhaps thankfully we are unable to! I would put out our first team to hopefully install some confidence in the system and themselves. No goals so far - so would be nice to score 1 at least!
I think he should play what he thinks his best team is as much as he can, and the 3 -5 -2 or whatever he is going to change to (if he knows that) so they get to know each other, how he wants them to play, and get some decent match training done on it.
Whatever selection and formation Redknapp chooses for Wednesday, I would be disappointed if he doesn't set out to win the game. We've had too many seasons in which cup games appear to have been deliberately thrown by management, presumably in favour of concentrating on either promotion or avoiding relegation, which sells the fans short. I think a good cup run helps build team spirit, confidence and a winning mentality...something needed urgently.
It has to be the starting line up. Match fitness and getting used to playing with each other have to be the priorities. We do not have a 46 game League season so they should not expect to be rested. I will not be impressed if this is seen once again as a chance to give the fringe players a run out and no more than that.
Didn't your hear him at the press conference? "Unfortunately we have a game this Wednesday" Don't get your hopes up.
An outrageous comment from arry, derogatory to Burton, The League cup, the supporters of both teams that are going. As if Burton need more incentive. He also kept saying it was difficult, well if easy to do why pay him all that money to do it, poor interview from a dumb person.
Don't hold your breath mate. In his press conference, Harry said, "UNFORTUNATELY" we have a game on Wednesday. He'll almost certainly throw the game away.
I would pick the same team as yesterday but with whatever changes he feels are necessary, Onouha for Dunne for example.
