Early days but old boys Caulker, Mutch and Campbell are not getting much joy. Will they be looking for new clubs next year........again? Caulks and Mutch on the end of a 4-0 drubbing at Spurs today and Fraizer may have wished he'd settled for less dosh and gone to Leicester. Palace seem to be tearing themselves apart internally, and I wonder if old 'arry at QPR has made a big mistake in thinking Ferdinand is the player he was 5 years back. If we do manage to change places with both of them for next season, would you be tempted to buy any (or all) of them back?
No sympathy at all for any of them. Modern football mercenaries hopping from one relegated club to another. If they were as good as they think they are we would not have been relegated.
That's plain enough hampshire...... We could get Medel back from Inter if they go down from Serie A. We should offer them about 1 mill with another couple of mill on the drip over the next few years.....
As stated, it is football to move on these days and follow the cash. Also as stated, if they were that good we wouldn't have been relegated. Mutch has always been overrated for me. He just looked good compared to what was around him in our squad.
Caulker, Mutch and Campbell. Caulker, over the moon when we signed him, started well but was caught out of position too many times, not a captain. Mutch, Got better as the season went on, injury prone but would have liked to keep him. Campbell, Will run all day not going to be a 20 goal player. All in all not too sad to see them gone, if they don't want to play for us best let them go. Too early to know how QRP & Palace will do this season, my thoughts were that QRP would struggle but just do enough to stay up while I thought Palace would have been lower end of the table but quite safe. Not so sure now with Pulis gone.
The botton line is they didn't want to be here for the fight to get back. Not expecting loyalty too much these days - it's just the way it is in football - but if their respective clubs should come down, I'd expect them to all to jump ship again. My point was, if that were the case and we'd managed to get back up, if they did come calling.......... A) would they be wanted back? B) would they have just added more evidence that they are not the quality players they might think they are?
This is a hard one to call as we don't know how well they will be playing this time next year. Some players work harder to improve their game e.g. Ramsey. Another season in the Premier League will give them more experience to prove their quality and if the price is right, depending on our finances, I think we would never say never.
Extracted from a "marks out of 10" assessment of their players made by a QPR supporter who was at their game with Spurs yesterday.............. CAULKER - 3 - at fault for the 2nd goal making a crazy run away from their attacker. Missed 2 good corner chances and was generally poor. Not solid at all. MUTCH - 3 - did we spent 5m on him? Really poor, lazy and off the pace. Didnt close down at all. Hmmm.....not much joy from their new club fans at the moment.
not sure I'd take any of them back for the fees we sold them for. Was glad we signed them but with hindsight, Medel is a bit of an enigma and I don't think we'd play a style that would get the best out of him though evidently a world class player. Caulker is a bit of a David Louise (!!) though not as good. Mutch is a good player who I'd take, but not for what we sold him for.
