10 Rillington place, the great escape ( I think he was only one of 2 left still alive recently from the film), the league of gentlemen, 3 of his best films.
I always remember him for playing Big X in the Great Escape, jolly good show old chap. David McCallum (Ashley-Pitt) is still alive, not sure about any of the others. It has been a bad year for the film and entertainment industry....Eli Wallach, James Garner, Lauren Bacall, Robin Williams, Rik Mayall, Roger Lloyd-Pack, Shirley Temple, Mickey Rooney and footballer Eusebio.
Plus Alfredo di Stefano. Whilst not exactly "entertainment" (!) the last officer of the Enola Gay - navigator, 'Dutch' Van Kirk - died in Atlanta, Georgia.
Agreed. Old Dickie was never that convincing treading the boards, although he played a very good Pinkie back in the day.
It's a funny thing is death, it should teach us how lucky we are to still be here. But the clock is ticking and one day....
Over the weekend I watched Good Will Hunting and The Big Sleep to remind myself of two great actors we lost recently. Anybody recommend a good film for Dickie other than The Great Escape or Jurassic Park?
