Having grown up in the seventies and having to live through the eighties living in Ipswich's shadow, I'm absolutely loving this. When I think of the team that they had back then and the absolute tinpot club they have now become it beggars belief. What a hot-bed of football eh ? Couldn't even fill their ground for the derby, shocking. I could never fathom how come a small town side could 'out punch' their larger City neighbours, I guess it just proves just how great Sir Bobby was. Keep banging on about your monochrome history and what you have won in the past because on today's evidence I doubt you will ever ply your trade in the top flight again. RIP 1p5wich Towan P.S. This team man for man are far better than that team. What the last promotion winning team had was momentum, belief and a desire to never give up from the league 1 campaign. This team has a lot more quality in it and when or if the momentum and belief comes, then I think we will take some stopping. Big if though!
You're having a laugh, we could've filled your ground, not just our section. We sold our allocation within an hour. Your lot were still trying to sell them on the day...what a joke, local derby, fierce rivalry and all that....what ever. You're absolutely right, I will never experience my side winning a top flight title the game has changed so much. Having said that, I can't believe you're old enough to have done either. We may win an FA Cup one day who knows, but even IF we ever do I know the trophy has nowhere near as much prestige as it did way back when Ipswich won it. The same can be said for your UEFA Cup win as a 'smaller' club may win that again but the competition has been devalued so much in recent years. That said, there is only so long you and yours can bang on about history as going by what you have said Huddersfield Town would still be regarded as a far bigger club than you having won several League titles way back when. Football is 'cyclable', the balance of power has changed in this part of the world as it has higher up in our game. Liverpool were top dogs in the 70's and 80's, Manure in the 90's and 00's and now we have Chelsea and Citeh at the top of the tree. One day Town may rekindle glory of some sort, I don't know, but just just like Manure, IMHO it will be a very long time before that happens You're a top bloke Warky you care passionately about your club just like me and I'm sure had you won yesterday you would be giving it large #respect
Fair Play mate you just caught me at a bad moment yesterday when I was still bloody angry and bouncing off the walls!
