Not a fan of big Vic last season but has really impressed me in first game and a half. Bertrand and Tadic linking very well
We have no one that can bring the ball down, turn and run at people like Adam could. Tadic is great out on the wing but Adam was more direct centrally. I would love to have seen a team containing both!
Agree with this. On the evidence of this game I think we miss Lambert more. We're not passing into the striker like we used to, almost every attack seems to have to go wide for a cross into the box.
We need to up the tempo and stop trying to cross it every single attack. One good central run through from Morgan which Davis almost found but apart from that there was a big lack of movement/creativity. Looking very solid though. Wanyama has improved a lot with a full pre-season it would seem
Had the better of the first half. Just need some end product now. Tadic and Bertrand are stand outs going forward again
looks like we could do with another creative player instead of JWP or Davis at the moment. Rodriguez would be the answer, but perhaps Taider or Isgrove is worth a punt.
Yes, I'm a miss Lambert more guy as well. Pelle doesn't (yet) quite pull the opposition around in the way he used to. Made a lot of room for others. We need to sort the crosses out as well, their keeper is going to gobble up high balls all day if played too close to him.
Our tempo is far too low, West Brom are getting into a very good shape and we have loads of possession but get nowhere near their third. Pelle pretty awful, hasn't won anything and just looks broody. Looks to me like Shane Long will come on at half time to support him, perhaps for Davis. Interestingly Anichibe was causing is loads of problems, then Fonte gave him a kick and he just disappeared.
Sprinklers are now producing their own micro-climate. Quite impressed with the Baggies speed of passing although little threat up to now. We seem a bit slow and I really wish that Adam and Lambert were on the pitch...... Still, let's hope for something to cheer next half.
I like Davis, he's a workhorse but he doesnt have a lot of creativity or ability to break down defenses. We were saying in the transfer thread a little while ago about the need for a versatile attacker.
Back 5 and cm look good. Nice and solid. Not so good going forward, tadic creating but not getting enough men forward in good positions. Think Davis' lack of attacking prowess will be highlighted now he's not playing with our front 3 from last year, will take him a bit of time to find his feet in attack solid otherwise
We got success last week from Tadic and Clyne teaming up down the right, so we need to bring on Isgrove or Long on the left. I'd agree with bringing Taider on for either Davis or JWP as well.
