http://www.givemesport.com/496196-jose-mourinho-to-force-fernando-torres-out-of-chelsea Dodgy as hell source, but please let it be true! Sign Remy from QPR, he has a £10m release clause, he would be adequate as back up to Costa, and get El Burro the **** outta here!!
It'd make sense considering we have too many foreign players in the side currently. I think he'd rather Nando left than Cech, and so would I!!! However, it would surely mean we can't buy Remy if no more foreign players are allowed.
I spose. Lukaku counted as home grown right? Awesome decision to sell him and keep Torres! (Though I understand this wasn't completely in Jose's hands)
I don't think Lukaku did. I think you have to have been living here for 5 years or something before the age of 21. Fabregas does though!
I read up on the rule. You have to be signed to a British club for 3 seasons BEFORE your 21st birthday. Lukaku signed for us in August 2011 and turned 21 in May 2014, which means he should just scrape it.
No-one will take him on with that £175k per week contract, and I doubt he's the type to take a pay cut to get playing time. You're stuck with the chump imo.
Probably find Chelsea will try to pay him off with half his salary if they can find a club to meet the other half (as City did with Adebayor). Would anyone pay £90k a week? Probably not.
Trade him to Monaco with Cech for Falcao, nooo. I read the other day that Mattia Destro is being lined up if Torres does leave.
He'll still stand on their books at about £20m, so if they blow him out for half that and then have to subsidise half his wages via a golden handshake on the 2 years he's got remaining on his contract, then just getting shut will cost them a write off of circa £20m.
The £20m cost is unavoidable (if that is his value), so it's about the best deal for the team on the pitch, and getting rid now seems the best available.
I'd say stranger things have happened, Adebayor's wages were unreal and I'm surprised you even paid half of them! Torres' name still carries some worth outside England for shirt sales etc.
I would have thought so. Wouldn't like to see Cech leave but if Courtois is going to be 1st choice, I couldn't blame him. Schwarzer is good enough as back up. Cech is too good to expect him to sit on the bench, plus we could still get some wedge for him. Real Madrid want him as a replacement for Casillas, who, by all accounts has been dire these last couple seasons. We could get £5-10m for him maybe.
I think Cech to leave is a certainty, its just a question of when. If a big team want him he would have to go, he is obviously way too good to be 2nd choice. I think as soon as Courtois signs an extension Petr will go. As for Torres, it is pointless keeping him in the squad when he is so poor for us. Paying him out his 20 mill odd in wages and selling him for, say, 7mill would be good business, more than 7mill, even better business. We're stuck with his wages no matter what happens, since he apparently won't go for less, so the sooner the better for all concerned. Can't say I altogether blame him, no one put a gun to our head to do that crazy deal. Problem is, who'd want him??
like everyone here - I would pickup Torres to anywhere with anyone coming our way rumors. Hope it is true. How much we all would be happy
I tried to post a funny one here but it won't work , so has anyone seen the Torres cartoon Ice Bucket challenge. If so can it be posted on here as I have to give up trying Unless this works http://imgur.com/r/chelseafc/qtv6jSI
