Balotelli has far more potential to give value for money in the long run though. With the admittedly huge proviso that he behaves himself and puts in a shift.
Potential yes, to give he won't. He's a sulky batard that thinks he's above everyone else and offers one good game in ten! He's got a good record in Italy but that's because that league is ****. There is a reason he doesn't stay at clubs very long and his value keeps decreasing!
how similar to what we heard about sturridge before we signed him is that comment? all players now days are a risk, and i would rather £16 mill for balo than say £40 mill for falcao who may not even adapt in this league. leaves us some pennies for jan as well which might be a good thing, hopefully we may get a reus or a shaqiri in the jan window lol
Not at all? Studge as always offered movement effort and goals. Reason people didn't want Studge was either not a big enough name, Chelsea reject or he's ball greedy. I was the later and I still maintain that view. I'd rather save the £16m too!
I realise this probably sounds weird but how come i keep seeing people referring to us spending £116m but with no mention of us selling Suarez for £75m. Last year when spurs were experiencing the same as us on things like ssn it was always coupled in the news, so the statement would be along the lines of, spurs have spent over a £100m this summer of course this has been bolstered by the sale of Gareth Bale for £85m. It isnt just us btw, this year Chelsea have spent quite a bit of money however, they have sold a large amount but on the news it is just reported how much they have spent. It just seems odd, i know it is not a bias against LFC - but how come certain clubs seem to fly under the radar as it were, take Everton and Arsenal, comparatively they have spent quite a bit over the years (Arsenal transfer dealings always seem to be attached to statements on how good Wenger is in the transfer market and they roll out how he bought and sold Henry, Petitt and one other all for huge profits, but this was a long time ago). Also teams like Newcastle and Villa seem to have spent quite a bit again comparatively to their earnings. Happens at the bottom of the table also in reverse, Blackpool got a lot of milage from pundits on how they were attempting to crack the prem on a low budget, but many other teams have tried but never got the milage blackpool did, like barnsley, burnley, wigan, west brom, reading. Are there any ideas on why this happens?
It's fairly simple. Firstly the general public are mesmerised by figures. The bigger they are, the more startling they become and they become a convenient peg upon which to hang future stories eg "What a waste" or "If you don't invest.....". The majority of journalists are lazy. It just takes too much effort to put the spending into context eg money spent v income from sales received or player X's assumed market value was X and they've got him for Y! Numbers are just so easy to use - understanding exactly what those numbers represent is another matter.
I'm going to be all positive about this. It's all going to work out grand! This will be the club Ballotelli becomes the football star he should be. At least he's not Andy Carroll.
We all know he's a risk, no-one is trying to deny it, but we all have our opinions on whether or not we should take that risk. Personally, I'm warming to the idea but ultimately the decision is not ours so it's pointless us going round in circles reiterating the same views over and over. ********* Anyway, I'm off now and probably won't be back on until just before the game- or possibly after. Have fun folks.
I'm the other way. I thought it could be a good move but the more I think about it the worse it becomes. He doesn't fit in with Liverpool in any way other than we lack a **** since Luis left! And yes, I realise I'm being negative () but I'm seriously struggling for positives in this move!
Dave will tell you - I am more of a pessimist when it comes to my beloved 'Pool, but i have a really good feeling about Balotelli, so he prob wont sign or destroy the club
You should all be glad I don't want Balotelli anyway, they usually turn out decent when that's the case... Studge, Coutinho, etc
I'm not one to be negative, but I agree. He isn't flexible, isn't a team player and just isn't a Rodgers Liverpool player.
I know Ballotelli can be a nut job sometimes but I doubt we could get any any other top class premiership proven strikers for £16m. Still think Remy would have been better value at £8.5m but that was not to be so I am happy enough with Ballotelli. As for Eto I think we are about 3 or 4 years too late. I could live with signing him as well as Ballotelli but not in place of.
I think Liverpool summer transfer 2014 is now done. It has been a pleasure, until 2015 Jan window that is!
