I know you are LTL, but the way around it is for Joe and Dan simply to start posting again, as well as the others who have left. There is no need for anything to be any different, they have served the ban and the reasons for it won't be held against them. The mods (who represent a wide range of ages) were unanimous that the ban should be imposed, and none of us see anything wrong or inconsistent with that decision, and it certainly didn't have anything to do with the age of the posters or the mods. But it's gone now, it's over and done with, no need for recriminations on either side. Please, let's all start again.
As a neutral observer, I would say that Chilco, TSS, Qwerty, Channon, Brendy and Beddy are some of the most reasonable and wise posters on this forum (that's why they were chosen to mod the forum) and I can't imagine that any collective decision that they make would be anything other than fair.
I'm not going to quote it but I'd like to thank TSS for his honest response that I can't really argue with. I actually don't like people banned in general, although it's obviously sometimes necessary. The likes of Duckhunter and Trixter were unavoidable and the place is unquestionably better off without them but I didn't particularly celebrate when, say, gomarchingin was banned. I also appreciate Chilco's point that people are free to come back now. However I think the board will suffer without the posters who've left, particularly the likes of Beefy and DTLW who provide us all with vast amounts of information. I would suggest it's in the interests of this forum for those people to be encouraged to return. Otherwise I can see this board emptying out and becoming as quiet as the Pompey forum.
can we shut up about it all, its so boring, mods done the a job, hissy fits thrown. 48 hour bans are up, move along please.
I couldn't agree more, but it might be a case of pride that is stopping them from returning, what more can the mods do?, they obviously interpret the rules differently to the banned posters but that is what they were selected to do.
And likewise there are a great many who would agree - fortunately. IMO we have a decent bunch of moderators - having said that i do hope that all of those who are staying away atm do return. It is possible to have a disagreement and then for both sides to shake hands ( even metaphorically speaking- wise ) and get on with life. I just cannot understand why these few intelligent guys, as they very obviously are, are staying away from this forum because of this incident.
Being young, I'm willing to put myself forward for this position. I can be the blue ying to their red yang. Anyhow, having missed all this, what were the bans for, and more importantly, were they justified?
Well we had a thread and a poll on whether they were justified which was swiftly deleted (guess which side of the poll was winning).
Ii I don't suppose all this staying out in solidarity is because of a mistaken belief that the Mods asked for an extension of the ban in response to the questioning of it? If so, those who are in personal touch with them could perhaps let them know that they are incorrect in their assumption. We did no such thing.
Haha its weird..its like color commentary on what happens on this thread. Yes, yes it is..was just trying to lighten the mood a little at the time
