Hopefully we can have a great time in your city, like the majority off Hull and our fans had in Lokeren! Normally our meeting point will be pub called "Admiral of the Humber" , hope that we can meet there in an excellent and friendly atmosphere!

I don't know if you noticed the trend with the examples you posted.

I also don't know if you were there.

Like in Slovakia I happened to be right there when it happened. City fans behaved impeccably and showed immense restraint whilst being pelted incessantly with glasses, coins and rocks etc. There was a huge crowd being forced forward from behind by police while no on wanted to walk through the gauntlet and tried to stay back, people got pushed aside and into police who shamelessly beat anyone unfortunate enough to get pushed into their range. Some people finally retaliated and its little wonder when women are being beaten by police just standing by whilst young children are getting hit with pint glasses and bottles.

Its not a question of thinking. Its about facts. The Belgium police allowed women and children to be bottled and bricked and no doubt are coming under some criticism. Of course they'll say its the fans fault, just like the South Yorkshire police did.

As I wrote in reply to chillo's original post-"You should have put an irony alert on there for the benefit of those who are a bit slow on the uptake."

I wrote after the original post "You should have put an irony alert on there for the benefit of those who are a bit slow on the uptake." Surprised you were one to be caught out.:D

To the supporters of Hull City

In the name of all the real Lokeren-fans, I would like to apologize for what happened yesterday after the game. Those idiots in the pub are guys from the former 'West-side', the hooligans of our club. These people have been banned from the stadium due to their extreme violence.

What was supposed to be a very exciting evening in the history of our club has in this way turned out into a night with 'double feelings'. We all wanted to meet and drink with you guys, which we also did (pre-match) and I think both the supportergroups made it a very nice evening for football.

I hope that the people who got hurt after the game recover well and don't have hard feelings against the 'normal'-supporters of Lokeren, who will be coming to Hull next week.

And last, about the local police: their commander isn't known for his quick wit, and he makes a lot of decisions that turn out bad for the supps (both home and away).

I really hope that next week can become the same feast as yesterday (except for the pub-incident)

    Good luck!

    Thomas

Don't worry, over 1,000 of us spent the afternoon with Lokeren fans in the square and the atmosphere was fantastic, I don't think what happened afterwards will change the view that most of us have of Lokeren fans.

Though I do wonder what the Lokeren fans made of the bloke from Goole, who spent the whole afternoon walking up to people in the square saying 'nice titties'. <laugh>

It would be good to see a friendship march, with supporters from Lokeran being escorted to the ground by City fans.

That's a fantastic idea, we should march with them, both flags flying. Although some kind of translation might be needed for the initial meeting, otherwise they might think we're all gathered there to retaliate. <laugh>
