No, you're right. The initial ban was 48 hours. The supermods got themsleves in a tizz and messed that up and gave a 24hr ban. Said oops sorry to us, which we asked to just change back to our original 48 hrs for consistency. Instead, they put 48 hrs on top of the original 24.

    Basically, it got complicated.

No, I'm afraid that wouldn't work. We don't have room in our forum rules to negotiate. Besides, I think we know what the grievance is.

Dan and Joe can PM us and we can chat. They can then share that discussion between posters via PMs if they like. If I know posters, from other forums, they do this anyhow.

Understood, was just hoping that we'd all be able to find a way to resolve differences and get back to fully talking about Southampton FC.

Fair enough. I won't be here tomorrow, whoever talks about Saints. I'm off walking the Meon Valley with the Southampton Ramblers all afternoon. Hopefully, I'll get enough signal to use the Not606 app at some point. Perhaps when Pelle scores..!

Anyway, I digress. Just trying to embed a liveleak video:

OK, that didn't work. Just go to the video and skip to 1.30m. It's from my VFR forum. Amazing landing.

I expect the horror of their ban has forced Dan & Joe to go on a Gazza style bender. This forum will fire up again when the match starts

Gotta say that a big part of any problem on here (or any internet chat-room/forum) has got to be the fact that when somebody posts something it is often very difficult to understand the body language or tonality that a message would have been said with if the message had been delivered in person, and with that said, it perhaps explains the need for posters to keep the forum on the safer side regards usage of certain vocabulary and we should respect the mods to regulate this as such also.

While the majority of current posters (myself included) will agree to missing the contributions of those banned/striking in the meantime, I think the forum has been a bit crazy with the various forms of upheaval at our club, and I personally have found more recently (as an outsider of the main group of contributors) that on the odd occasions I have posted that at times I've largely wished I hadn't bothered.

I'll go further to explain that the main reason for this has been due to the way that some responses actively seem to be delivered in such a way to basically shut down another poster without any care for any/further rational conversation. e.g. I've made up my mind and you're opinion is wrong, so I'll try my best to belittle it, rather than any form of too-ing and fro-ing of intelligent debate.

Anyway, hopefully it'll all be sorted soon and we'll have a happier forum for it. Particularly if, as we hope, we get the 3pts tomorrow.

    COYS!

As a fellow motorcyclist, I hope he realises he was also a complete berk. He totally and utterly caused that accident. Nevertheless, I'm sure the probable legend feeling overcame that. :)

You're quite right and this is why the forum rules are very tight. We simply have to make a judgement and let some things go if nobody complains. If we pulled up everyone for every little infringement we'd need 10-15 mods working in shifts. Without naming members, we have had several people leave because of other posters, over the 3+ years. Indeed we've had one who came to us for protection, and we simply couldn't do it, because we'd have to become much stricter at following the forum rules. Despite our efforts to find a solution that member decided to leave. Hopefully, that person will return as the season gets going. All this goes on with most of the members not having a clue what's happening behind the scenes.

Yeah, driving is a massive part of my job and the number of near misses i've had and witnessed due to riders like that one swerving through traffic like nutters is unbelievable. They dont seem to grasp that i'm driving a van and will not be the one who comes off worse in a collision. Same goes for cyclist.

I thought everyone was on strike until the ban ended... not the ensuing sulk! :D

To me that's he sad part now. Whatever the rights and wrongs sulking is never attractive, or right. It detracts from any point your trying to make.

So many have covered the issues better than I could (as bluddy always) but I miss the input of those "on strike".
Even if you're really in the right sometimes (as my daughter informs me) you just need to "suck it up".

As I said, don't take a stance that is hard to get out of. They should have reappeared immediately after their ban all chirpy chappie....like lads returning from the headmaster's study...everyone would have fallen on their necks and we could move on. They were banned from a football forum, rightly or wrongly (in their view)...they aren't Nelson Mandela.

I find this situation very bizarre. Surely all involved need to take a deep breath and look at the bigger picture of life in general - life is way too short to fall out over a bloody football forum ! Man up ffs !
I though that the idea of this site was that we all love the mighty Saints and to discuss, debate and sometimes argue all things Saints - plus occasionally, for some it would seem, Joe's imaginary love life !

I am a different generation to Joe & Dan etc and some of the things they write on here is totally polar opposite to my thoughts, but i do miss their input i must say. I really miss the likes of DTLW and FLT as they are always worth reading, so i hope that they return very soon.

May be a great performance and a good win will galvanise everybody again and this site will return to normal. Come On You Mighty Saints !

Trouble with sulking (unlike striking) is the effect diminishes over time. Initial impact of sulking is soon gone replaced by that most awful of situations, no one notices or even cares.

I speak from a position of authority, used to be a famous sulky git. After one magnificent effort consisting of 5 days of intense sulking I announced I would re-join in communication with others. Found out the buggers hadn't even noticed, thought I was just a bit quiet. Talk about wasted effort.
