Many good points there Stan. Regarding the European ones there really isn't many viable options as far as I can see. The Italians are literally skint except Juventus and maybe Roma. Yes Napoli had money last summer but they spent what they had and hasn't made any big sales this summer and are only looking at loan deals. Don't think he's high profile enough for Juve, we won't loan him so that leaves Roma who has a full set of strikers. They have been linked with a swap deal for Torres with Destro going the other way, can't see them being that stupid. Therefor I don't fear him leaving for Italy. France and Germany don't pay high enough wages except and PSG, Monaco and Bayern Munchen. None of whom is a likely destination. Spain. Three clubs can afford him, Barca, Real and Atletico Madrid. Lets be perfectly honest, even though how high we rate him, he wouldn't make it into any of the three sides. The fact that wants play Champions League should rule out Spurs. He obviously want to stay in England. Only Liverpool and Arsenal left realistically. Liverpool is done, just signed Balotelli. Arsenal is my only fear. With Giroud put on the bench and Sanogo failing to impress in the opening couple of games I fear that Wenger might swoop late on for Remy. He fancy a French when the opportunity arises. All things considered I like our chances of keeping hold of Remy. And if he's here come September I believe he'll sign a new contract, preventing us going through this every transfer window.
I have a suspicion that we have hesitated over Kolbeinn Sigþórsson due to the uncertainty over Loïc Rémy. If he does go, then I see this deal being taken off ice and closed out. If the Frenchman bids au revoir then the iceman cometh!
Good summary. I too think Arsenal are the most likely to make a bid. They can't expect to win anything with Giroud and Sanogo, so I expect them to sign a striker. Let's just hope it's not Remy.
Isn't that bad psychology. Keep the Iceman hanging as a clear second choice? I feel I would not want to join QPR in that circumstance. Or is that just the nature of the business?
Its this easy re Harold in front of the camera he is 100% pantomime but that seems to work very well for our club's exposure … in fact it's genius now with Hoddle, Rio and even Gazza. However as i have mentioned in the past it has a downside and that is QPR gets a load of stick as our exposure climbs and everyone wants us to lose. that's just a basic money jealousy thing. We are billy balls let hope we can live up to the sperm count
You are absolutely right and you could add Townsend to that list, a player who I rate highly, and I still wouldn't be tempted to part with Remy. He is the key to us having a good season and his goals could well be the difference between us staying up and going down. Surely, the release clause must specify cash? Hence, second-hand, part exchange dross wouldn't trigger the release clause. I hope.
If we're trying to lower the wage bill BAE, Dawson and Carroll together would probably be on more than Remy. As Rodney says, he really is the key to us staying up, goals win games...
Rodney, I think you are spot on there, it could only be cash. otherwise the potential are appeals/counter-claims on valuations of other swap players would be impossible to reach agreement on.
The Times has Spurs interested in Wellbeck, who has been told he can leave Old Trafford. So that would be nice.
That could well keep Remy safely in the fold.I must say that I do not entirely understand why Wellbeck is being rejected.
