Well it's almost upon us! Lets get a thread on the go early. We've made in my eyes at least a reasonable start. 4 points from 9 is fine, 2 away games played. Norwich have bounced back from the 1-0 defeat to wolves on opening day with two strong home wins vs Watford and Blackburn. Graban has hit the ground running too! Olsen will be suspended, and Fer may have gone by the weekend. I have a feeling we won't lose this game. Norwich have more quality all over the park, and clearly play better footy than what we currently offer. However, we're potentially more organised and I think we have the better manager. Norwich also don't appear to travel very well either, as a fan of theirs has pointed out. I actually have a weird feeling we'll win this 2-1. We probably won't deserve to, I just fancy us to win most of the 50-50 battles vs literally anyone right now. I think that late goal at Birmingham may help kick us on. 26,500. Looking at the website seems we've sold more than was originally feared. Shame it won't be a sell out, but be good to see Portman Road at least relatively full.
Agree Westy, I too think we will knick this with a bit of the old PR roar...lots of luck, smiley ref, odd decisions going our way, one Canary flapping his wings, not yellow, off the park..perch.....and critically Dids & Murph starting together, as well as Henshall. Now that would make me lick my lips! 2-1....top 6, and push on with the new season with more about us, with more players returning from the rest room!
scared, very very scared. To be honest and taking away the rivalry aspect, I have to say I expect Norwich to be in the top 4 or 5 this season. They have the players and I think their biggest issue is likely to be how their manager adapts. I dont think we will get thrashed - MM teams never appear to - but Im not holding out much anticipation of a home win.
It'e good that we have two home wins under our belt, but it's been a long time since we've played well on the road, it's a habit we have to claw back if we have aspirations of a quick return to the Prem. I'm very nervous about this!
Norwich have just signed Carlos Cuellar to add to their defence. I'm going to stick my neck out and call it 2-1 to us.
I am very nervous also and it really could go either way, guess its down to who wants it more!! Hopefully we will be right up for this and go at Norwichand try to win the game rather than try to not lose the game!
Like most people Id take a point here and now, the Budgies with that squad and huge budget should win easily, so theres nothing to fear so i hope we just go for it. Theres only one team that will look a right bunch of ladies rude bits if they lose and it isnt us. Hiya Westy i saw you at Reading but couldnt catch up with you, hope youre ok.
Well, not long to go now ladies, im already starting to get nervous!! I am just hoping that MM manages to pull a rabbit out the hat and sign a superstar today but then......
This is an interesting read on the East Anglian Derby on the BBC Football Site. The one thing I disagree with though is that according to the article they say that the two sets of fans only meet each other for the game and then go their separate ways afterwards! This does not take into account the huge number of families especially on the Norfolk/Suffolk border that have mixed allegiances. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28872631
I think I see their point JWM. most Derbies are two sides of the same city so there is likely to be no escaping the event whereas round here then there are two different areas with a few crossover points where it will become a true rivalry. These area's are normally fairly small, in comparison, towns so even there it would not cause the same level of intensity. However I would imagine if you live/ work in one of these areas you would feel the same passions as you would in Glasgow/ Liverpool/ Manchester or Milan for examples.
Just touched down in Suffolk after my drive from the midlands.. walked into my old room at my parents and noticed my copy of 'singing the blues' It will be on a loop tomorrow morning pre game.. both bricking it and excited for tomorrow. Looking forward to being in a near capacity Portman Rd. Hopefully it will be rocking!
Driving up from West Sussex at the crack of dawn to my brothers house and then make the short trip from Whitton down to Portman Road. It feels like Christmas Eve with all the excitement and anticipation! The SBR will be rocking tomorrow!
Games on at a great time out in this neck of the woods, so will be watching game in a bar in Bali with a couple of other town fans, not got a good feeling though think we could lose this.
