According to Pardew, Rhodes has gone for "big money" and that Rhodes, Long and McCormack "arnt good enough" http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/alan-pardew-says-shane-long-7659226
He won't go to a "top six" team. That leaves 13. He won't want to go to relegation fodder like Burnley. That takes out another (say) 4. Which leaves 9 potentials. Of which we are one. Given that he is a Manc (well born in Oldham), he may well want to stay in the North. I would have thought that the Steve Bruce connection with Man U might well put us in pole position. It's a nice thought. A strike force of Welbeck, Rhodes, Jelavic etc and we could make top 10.
He might want to try Danny Graham, perfect for Newcastle, and very reasonably priced. Can take a Dockers Kiss now and then as well.
Hang on, Rhodes AND Welbeck? never going to happen we're splashing pretty much all the money we got for Long on Rhodes.. how are we going to pay for Welbeck and his big wages too?
if you're spies are right OLM then how to pull on the heart strings....anybody else worried about Rhodes wages winding others up...? If he does the biz the fine, if he doesn't then there'll be trouble at mill...
I suspect the next time we hear about an offer at City that was too good to turn down, it will be For Steve Bruce when Newcastle have sacked that ****.
Oh im with you, it would be ****ing excellent to sign them both, even if Welbeck was a loan.. just sounds too good to be true doesnt it..
He's only saying that because he refuses to sign anyone that isn't a Frog. David Meyler should've lamped the **** when he had the chance.
Let us not forget that we have the manager who spanked Duffman and Brown's arse over the Michael Turner deal. He's probably one of the very best in the business at getting the right deal for his club, and I, for one, wouldn't back against him getting both Rhodes AND Welbeck in. Personally I'd be happy with one or t'other but I wouldn't bet against both being landed. In Brucey we trust!
We need to get at least one of these deals over the line otherwise Sunderland, west ham, stoke etc will have already snapped up our plan b's
The same Alan Pardew that wanted to sign Long? http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...-and-Luuk-De-Jong-is-a-priority-for-Newcastle
As I said, ****ing hypocrite. Edit: Apparently it seemed he wanted McCormack at one point too... http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...id-for-leeds-captain-ross-mccormack-1-6657991
