Oh I got it......... I bet the guy who worked out that Bale, Ronaldo, Kroos, Benzema and James squad numbers added up to 45 is really really pleased with himself....... Just a bit puzzled as to its relevance.
LOL just scrolled up and saw that Tobes said almost the exact same thing as me Totally by accident too
Intrigued. We'll see how it goes. The potential is great, the risk is great. On average, he gives us an edge up front besides Sturridge.
I agree with this, it could prove to be a stroke of absolute genius from Brendan or just as easily prove stupid. Should be very interesting to watch over the course of the season.
God help 'em. please log in to view this image Still, suppose it could be worse... please log in to view this image
I wouldn't say the risk is great to be honest. For £16m its a no brainer. Even if he does turn out to be a flop, he has resale value at his age. You will not sign a better striker for £16m I can tell you that much.
Well I meant right now, this summer to be honest. Im sure there have been better strikers signed for less in the past. Wenger got RVP for £2m ffs
Balotelli is a risk. Its whether it pays off (hindsight would be great before it happens, eh?) One way you risk bringing a proven disruptive influence into what seems a settled squad and great atmosphere. On the other hand, he can be unplayable on his day. To think, 4 million more would get you Bony. He could make a real difference.
OK, but its not like it was 10 years ago (RVP) I know it feels like longer because of all his goals but its only been 18 odd months.
Think this has a way to run yet. Papers suggesting we will be putting certain clauses in his contract regarding behavioural problems etc. he's not flown to england yet either so this may become more protracted than first thought. Definately won't be done by weekend so no chance of him playing Monday. May well rumble on for a while. Done deal? Far from it I think.
It'll probably drag on for a little more, but I wouldn't say it's 'Far from it' - probably next week sometime.
<laguh> He's certainly going bring some excitment to the team!!
Where will he play? He's an out and out striker, no flexibility to his game at all. There's going to be a lot of onus on Sturridge to be the "second" striker whilst still scoring a **** load of goals, effectively taking on the Suarez role.
Two things concern me with this signing... 1) he doesn't fit with our philosophy; no chasing and harassing the opposition, lack of movement, unable to cover more than one position, etc. The latter two could compromise our team's flexible and stylish approach play. 2) He's a ****! ...on the bright side, number two enables me to reincarnate last seasons signature
