Covered on another thread, but thought it is probably worth one on its own: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11426256._/? Quotes from Koeman's Press conference earlier today. Unfortunately, we are back to square one again, with a very good 1st choice keeper, but little quality as back up. Gazzaniga needs to be loaned out I think, and Kelvin isn't getting much younger. It's a shame Artur doesn't have the stomach to fight for his place back, but he was a good keeper for us during a short period. Now on the Saints Website:
Can't be arsed to fight, so bitches and gets put behind keepers that aren't up to it, so bitches again. He has got what he has wanted, but I bet he still bitches.
It was always going to happen, he's a very good shot stopper (when fit) and seems a really great character. It's his niggling injuries he picks up, and his distribution is poor for the type of game we want to play. One thing that's disappointing is the fact that he won't be training the next few weeks, doesn't do himself any good either way, even if he stays or goes.
What a little bitch. If he's going to whinge about fighting for his place then goodbye Artur, we've not lost quality by having Fraser as our number one. We'll need another back up keeper within a year though (asap really) because I'm not alone in saying Kelvin and Gazza as number 2 scares me.
I don't get this reaction at all. He is trying to keep his international career going and it's entirely understandable that he would want to play first team football to help that. The manager understands that, and I think after taking the red and white tinted specs off, so can you, really. It's not his fault that he has lost the jersey. The club bought a younger and hopefully better keeper. He is not one of those that I feel owe us anything, given what has happened.
I can understand why he's severely pissed off. In a summer when the side has been taken apart and we need to replace and strengthen in more pressing positions, we decide to replace Boruc rather than bring somone in to push him. We needed to have decent back up to Boruc not replace him. How can we really grumble with how Lallana, Lovren et al show no loyalty and want to move on. Yet players that are loyal get released, replaced or no contract renewed like Cork, Hammond, Chappers etc? Its football and the club show about as much loyalty to players as they do to the club.
No where did any one say he should be happy. The moaning and taking it to social sites to moan and have digs at the club is not on at all. That is what I and probably others are annoyed about. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about things. He could have either knuckled down and worked to get his position back, or asked for a transfer without all the pops at our club through Instagram.
Yeah, I'm fine with this as well. You can understand Boruc's position. He's training and hasn't kicked up a fuss. He's simply asked to leave and Koeman is okay with it and thinks it benefits both the player and club. They had to know this was likely, and felt that Forster was still worth it. Which is understandable given Forster's age. The club can take the money and invest it in a younger back-up keeper who might have the potential of someday being #1.
No one's arguing with the fact that he wants to keep his International Career alive etc. It's about Boruc making digs at the Club via Social Media, and not turning up to training this week, and not going to the Liverpool game to force through a move or resolution. That's what has angered most people, and rightly so.
Not in the training gallery from this week or the last before Liverpool. I don't think he is training...
Koeman says he's training "as before." If he's not, I assume it's because the club doesn't want him risking injury. At any rate, Koeman says he's fine with all of this. That's good enough for me.
Ok, must admit that I don't do the Instagram thing, and only recently started on twitter. my brother in law is a rugby man who reckons that footballers are a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. Maybe he has a point.
