Frank Fielding: please log in to view this image The Bristol City goalkeeper showed his ability throughout their 0-0 draw with Leyton Orient. He was tested numerous times by the Orient side but managed his first clean sheet of the season. The 26-year-old was the busiest of the two keepers and saved shots from Darius Henderson and Lloyd James. He was almost beaten by Scott Cuthbert’s shot but it was cleared off the line. Despite dropping their first points of the season, Fielding will be full of confidence when City face Rochdale this weekend. This was quite a nice write up about Fielding in 'The 72' that I found but tell me, with all of this clamour about signing a new goalkeeper, who is available to fill a number 1 slot.? The Cardiff boy has gone, what quality keepers are out there..?
sorry Wiz every fan knows he is not the answer. I bet if you could speak with SC privately he knows we need another keeper. That has to be the next piece of the jigsaw. I would prefer a keeper here before Agard. Promotion sides need a good goalkeeper,Frankie Fielding does not command his box,his kicking and distribution are awful.
I too often mix shiny and wiz up, 'twins' anyway Steve Phillips has just joined Shepton Mallet, so we missed out there
We could look to foreign leagues, Gillingham a couple of years back got a keeper from Valencia on a free transfer then sold him for £2million to Southampton at the end of the season.
Petr Cech?- No chance there seriously- Prem kepers are out due to wages but there must be several good candidates out there- Still think it will be a loan signing
Regardless of Fieldings form (and he did look iffy and nervous during what I saw of the Sheff U game online), we must have another senior keeper on the books, both as a backup and as a constant challenge to the incumbant. I suspect SC will have to see who is available on loan after the window closes.
