Ugh. Depressing if it is true. We need a striker to try and replace Suarez, Balotelli will not even come close. Would rather spunk double out on Falcao, but if he doesn't want to come to us there isn't much we can do I guess.
I assume that Mario is really a contingency plan so that we're not stuck with **** all when the window closes, but in the meantime we continue to try and get someone better.
I disagree. Suarez is unique and incredible. Impossibly to replace. We have to build the team as if Suarez was never in it or we will just build ourselves for a fall. Sturridge is a very reliable 20+ goal a season striker. He scored more than all of our rivals strikers last season. If we had never had Suarez you wouldnt be saying we need a 30 goal a season man in. Sure we'd need another striker, but Balotelli's level would be fine. We conceded a lot last season, and our midfield was thin. So we have improved that to. We have improved our team and squad as a whole. I think we have done the right thing.
Thing is, Balotelli is an idiot outside of football, kind of does what he wants sort of attitude. Ibrahimovic is like this, if he was to join Liverpool then we would be over the moon. Not saying they are the same in terms of quality but similar attitudes.
Most of the stuff Balotelli does is just funny, not bad like what Suarez does. But he has had a few dangerous anger bursts in the past, like the stamp on Parker. But years have passed since then.
Wouldn't want either. They are similar and yes Ibra is a better player but I can't stand these types of players, lazy and think they have a right to do **** all just because they score a wonder goal once every 6 months.
My main problem with him is that when he's bad on the pitch he is completely useless there's no he did ok with him we either have a match winner or someone who puts us down to 10 men. If the rest of the squad see this lazy twat plodding around the pitch then they are going to start wondering why they are putting the effort in. I'd be happy if he comes and makes me eat my words but Balotelli would be in a top 10 of players I don't want at Liverpool.
Ibra has scored 58 goals in 67 appearances for PSG. Balotelli has scored 26 goals in 37 appearances for Milan. These aren't 'wonder goals every six months' attitudes, these are great goal rates and complaining were signing someone who can lose his head sometimes is wrong. I for one can't wait for Balotelli if he comes.
He's a billy big bollocks and so is Sturridge, if they're both competing for the same spot, it could make for an interesting season. This could be a defining moment for Rodgers this, a managerial master stroke or a massive faux pas. One things for sure, he's better than Borini
I choose perspective lads. Sell Borini 14 mil top up 2 mil and you have Super Mario. So we still have the Suarez dosh to spend For a lazy tw at Balo does seem to score a hat full of goals and we need that. The loan fees being bandied about for Falcao are just obscene and am all for letting Rodgers work with a flawed player as he has already shown he can get the best out of such players.
Agree RubberSoul, we'll play both, Diamond system that will allow us to play both... Just depends on the lad now, does he want to grow up a bit and produce more often or does he still want to dick around more often than not, if the former, we've signed a player, if the latter we've signed a playa!
It's obvious to everyone that Balottelli has an attitude problem but I think his issues at city were down to mancini's poor man management skills. He fell out with tevez and ballotelli and in the end it looked like most of the squad weren't trying thus handing the title to uniteds **** squad. If anyone can BR can..as someone else has said, could be a master stroke or a disaster. A ' Cantona' risky type of signing and look how that turned out. He's told sky he's leaving Milan and coming to Liverpool but he also does have quite a sense of humour. So until he's leaning it's all just hypothetical!
I agree with this. People seem to forget that Sturridge was top striker in the PL last season, apart from Suarez. I've been thinking for a while about how we would fit another "starter" into our team up front. Sturridge has scored steadily since joining us and imo, we just need to cover him because he's a bit injury-prone. However, if he isn't the main man I wonder if his confidence would suffer and the goal tally would drop. Last season we played SAS because we couldn't leave one out, but it did contribute to us being a little light elsewhere. As you say, it's impossible to replace Suarez, but we might be just as effective (if less exciting) with a better balance. Balotelli is probably used to not playing all the time, him being a dickhead and all, and so might just suit us after all, for a while at least. This is what I'm trying to make myself believe, anyway.
