How would that be distinguished from his usual behaviour?

  5. If he quit the club could in theory sue him but realistically all parties would just get on with things. Managers have quit roles before and they will do in the future. Contracts mean very little in football, especially when it comes to managers. Didn't Pulis just walk out on Crystal Palace...?

Technically speaking, if LVG was made promises that haven't materialised he could claim Constructive Dismissal. Even if nothing as happened to warrant such a claim, he could try making his position untenable.

PS...it's all bollox regardless though <ok>

I doubt that he could claim Constructive Dismissal. However, Swarbs is probably half way to an answer. He keeps making statements that suggest its not his fault and therefore he has to leave due to Frustration ie he i stopped from meeting his contractual responsibilities.

United with Pulis would be very cringeworthy- and would be pretty typical. One of the most annoying managers going to Man Utd... getting the redneck would fit in with Butthead and Gollum since Rudolph left.

The very thought is genius. I would never ever have thought of such a fitting man for the job

Hi JB, I think Materialism (in red) is that which all our sciences rely on; whereas materialistic is something different (see bold in your post, above). That is my understanding of the words, anyway. A lot of people seem to mix them up, but I'm pretty sure their derivation is quite different, etymologically speaking.

P.S. For example, I put a lot of stock in materialism (with my background in science), but, if you know me, you'd fast realise I'm not at all materialistic. <ok>

Thanks CCC, me and Dave decided we agreed with each other but I guess I diverted myself from the original definition of 'materialistic' [which was the word in contention] by switching to a partial definition of 'materialism' and you're quite right in your example. That'll learn me <laugh>

We need to get another 'thought provoking' OT thread going - over to you for some ideas but steer well clear of religion.

Totally agree, mate, on both counts. <laugh> <ok>

I'll have to have a think about it. I've not made a thread in a while so it might not be such a bad idea to think of a topic.

Then what would the noun form of your "materialistic" happen to be, bookpants? Materialisticism, materialisticity, materiality? Materialism is the noun for both concepts.

In that type of line up without injuries

    D Gea
    Raphael Jones Evans Shaw
    Carrick Herrera Cleverley/Fellaine
    Mata
    Van Persie Rooney

Not too bad and leaves enough on the bench to change it.

Don't see it like that right now

    Stick man
The gurner, two feet in Evans, rojo

Red mist. Old man carrick. Unfit shaw

Homesick Herrera - don't track back mata

    Not bothered -- the crock

In short you've quite a few issue to resolve here. This system is not a good in IMO but I think maya is a big issue to make the 3 in midfield genuinely
