We are one of the lesser teams though my friend

Again its a points game and losing gets you no points .

Its sad to see just hiw desperate weve become to get excited by losing well.

Sunderland fans were saying that bollocks week in week out last season.

Oh I see. You're suggesting he wouldn't get into Man City's starting 11. That's probably fair though he certainly wasn't outclassed by the lads he had to deal with.

We cant score goals this season but we will concede left right and centre once the confidence goes again which may only be 6 days away.

Weve failed to get a cb and failed to replace remy.

Like what im saying or not im right on this and we will see very soon.

The first I suppose is based on not scoring against the champions.

The second is an assumption that we will generally concede more than we did against the champions. Not impossible of course but odd.

Just so there can be no doubt about the extent to which you are right at the end of the season, how about you give us your prediction now on where we'll finish ? I'll bookmark the page for May.

No its based on the fact we have not got a premier League strike force or center back partnership

Ill predict 10th at best another pointless mass following of non promise.

No fair picking 11 possible positions. Anyone can do that. Where do you say we will finish ?

    I'll go first. 8th.

    Your turn.

Pardew's legacy at NUFC is a shrugging acceptance of defeat. He has made it the norm, the expected, "the way of things."

"Oh look, Newcastle have lost again. Oh well, onto the next." It's just so dispensable and OK now isn't it? Comfortable is the word.

He really is the perfect fella for the regime because he has lowered that bar of expectation to those levels.
For all the "positives" we scratch for in matches like yesterdays, what was there to suggest anything is going to be different this season?

People on Twitter saying "I'll happily lose gallantly like that this season as opposed to what we got last term." Will you feel that way in ten games, pointless, or calling for Pardew's noggin on a spike?

Sure, it's one game against the champions and the first game at that so too early for any proper judgements to made either way. But on that very basis I was left a little bewildered by all the praise and excitement that seemed to light up #NUFC last night, especially given what we know of the past.

In truth we've come technically closer to beating City in seasons of overall struggle. Yesterday we had ZERO shots on target against a new, 80% fit, AWAY City side who never needed to get out of 2nd gear.

All the pretty build-up play is fantastic but until NUFC realise that the final third requires composure, end product and a final ball or finish then it makes no odds who your opponent is. Also still giving the football away far too much.

What bothers me most is Man City will go to the likes of a depleted Southampton (no disrespect) later this season, in full flow, and be more troubled offensively. Joe Hart must have wondered why he left the Las Vegas pool party so early.

"Never mind, there's always next week... blah blah blah."

Are we even likely to see the flicker of energy from our foreign legion we saw yesterday when facing the likes of Villa away instead?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I loved reading this thread because it shows how different people are. Some are half full some are half empty.

    The facts are this:

    We lost.
We had no shots on target.
    We played well in patches.
We need a CB & striker.

The fact is we are playing against a squad that has cost 10x ours. We cannot compete in terms of quality and we have to look at the positives from the game. Pardew cant come out in an interview and say.

"we where ****, I cant believe we had no shots on target. I need a new CB and Striker because the ones we have now are not good enough"

He has to take the positives from the performance and build the players up for the next game.

I was disappointed we lost, but I was happy with the attitude of the players and I was more than happy with the new players.

We have to accept that we are where we are because what is the alternative option. If you cannot find positives in the match against Man City then you may as well give up supporting the team.

Let me just emphasize that we support the team through thick and thin.
