Selling Long as been good business for the club but not for the team lets hope SB finds a decent replacement, regarding Sagbo for me had a good game the other night, played well against Liverpool last season but other than that for me overall disappointing. There does seem a player in there lets just hope he does a lot better this season and give him the benefit of the doubt with it been is first season in English football
Sagbo is a decent hard working player for the team and has slowly been improving during his time with the club, but will not in my opinion contribute the number of goals required to make a real difference at this level. I cannot see him leaving the club though during this transfer window as we are extremely thin on the ground with forwards. Bruce like all Manager's are finding it difficult to bring in Quality at the right price in the forward's department at the moment from the premiership. I feel its maybe time for Bruce to take a little gamble on two striker's from a top league abroad for around the 7-8million price range each if we are serious about progressing to a mid table finish in this league come the end of the season.
All very quiet on the transfer front, and no-one else really picking up on the Sagbo story so doubt there's anything in it. I really hope Bruce concludes his business this week and doesn't let it go to deadline day for his irons in the fire as we always seem to lose out to the likes of West Ham and Sunderland.
Just seen that tigerpete 22 years old scored 16 times last season and is now a Cameroon international.
Aren't the Mirror the one's that usually get it right about us, and are first with the names? I'd quite like this one to be right! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-city-boss-steve-bruce-4071434? Hull City boss Steve Bruce is making a £9million move for Lorient’s Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar - after being priced out of domestic talent. Bruce has opened talks with the French club for their powerful front man who had his best-ever campaign last season and is keen to move to England. The Tigers chief has money to spend from the sale of Shane Long and has drawn blanks with home-based strikers Danny Welbeck and Troy Deeney. Bruce would prefer to sign players in England, but he has switched across the Channel where Aboubakar is highly-priced but could have a bigger valuation if he hits it off. Hull are down to Nikica Jelavic and Yannick Sagbo and need at least one new forward as they prepare for a season with European games. Aboubakar, just 22, scored 16 times last season and has also notched at international level where he is already in the Cameroon national side.
That type of player performing at that standard abroad I think will now be the way forward for the club, just hope Bruce can get things sorted relatively quickly as the fees for these player's is only going to increase as the end of the transfer window approaches as Bruce has been telling everyone for some time Striker's win football matches.
Just saw on BBC gossip that Sunderland are looking to get Vargas on loan from Napoli, he's a guy we should be looking at really, but that's just my opinion
With regards to the Mirror, they are hardly ever right in their City rumours, their latest being Welbeck. As is usual with Bruce, we are just going to have sit tight and wait
Has been reported as "interest" from Southampton, Newcastle, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica in the past few weeks but nothing has materialised so probably just Agent talk.
Mentioned this kid on a thread earlier, would really like us to get him. He got 8 assists last year too!
Yeah i agree the Mirror is usually rubbish........... With Bruce it will be hush hush until its nearly done. Interesting next couple of weeks..........
"GFN_France: Sporting Lisbon find agreement with Lorient for Vincent Aboubakar; player undecided.”
And why not, 16 goals in French league 1, aged only 22 for a mid table team, used to playing as a lone striker, poor when pushed out on the wing. http://www.lfp.fr/joueur/aboubakar-vincent
@Hull_City_News · 27m £9m is a big gamble but it could pay off, Bruce was offered him for free last year (He chose Sagbo instead) #hcafc Anyone know if thats true?
It seems Steve Bruce got my email back at the beginning of June. It's a bit of a revelation as it means he can actually use the internet. I'm guessing learning is probably what he did in his time after being sacked at Sunderland. You owe me Steve
Someone posted a link on here listing the papers rumour successes The mirror came out bottom in a long list at 20odd % I can't remember who was top but near the top was the sun and daily mail
