Such a ******ed campaign. 80% of people doing it don't even know what it's for.

I've seen YouTubers doing it to raise awareness for ALS, I don't see why it's a "******ed campaign" if it's for a good cause. A lot of these YouTubers are pretty popular and have dedicated fan bases so it could do a lot of good in my opinion.

The one from Chris Pratt is excellent.

You're always gonna get bandwagoning students and 'uni lads' that make a charitable cause look like some annoying internet sensation. Give it 3 months and some no name student will have died from hypothermia while doing it on the streets of Newcastle in nothing but a mankini. It'll be sensationalisted in the papers as a dangerous trend and be outlawed by society, just like neck nominate.

Look at the way the no make up no selfies took off. I think they raised £8m in three day's.

I like how Meyler is nominating fit lasses to do it

While it's doing potentially a good cause, really its just another reason for narccistic people to get attention

I didn't say it was, I'm just saying some tit will take it too far and it'll end up being chastised in the red top papers.

Well the majority of the clips I've seen, from athletes and celebs, non of them mentioned Lou Gherig's disease...non of them have links to donate etc...
it's just splash and nominate so unless you're curious enough to google what the Icebucketchallenge really is, you've missed the plot.

Here's one I actually thought was good.

I do a lot of work raising money for ALS or Lou Gherig's disease here. I have a friend who has it and it is a horrible thing, no cure and 3 years if you are lucky after diagnosis. Anything anybody does to raise awareness is fantastic in my book

I'm sure brighter people have suggested this before? but here goes! Instead of having all these charities why don't we just have one big charity that covers everything? Surely this would cut down on the the running costs? You could be watching TV and be asked to give to cancer research, heart research, Macmillan, prostate! the this could go on and on without all the humanitarian charities! ONE charity must be the way forward? You can give and feel that you've given a little to all and not feel guilty for picking one over another? Just a thought!

Because then how do you decide how the money is split? Somebody who's on the heart transplant list isn't going to be happy that you thought their situation is safer than somebody with cancer. Also, it'd probably reduce the amount of donations simply because people don't know where exactly their money is going. One of the key points of a charity is that it's cause might emotionally influence others who might've experienced it at some point. If somebody isn't that bothered about Age Concern or RSPCA, why should their money go towards it?

I just think the running cost of all these charities would be slashed if they combined and actually do believe more people would give! I have a lot of people coming to me with good causes but you can only do so much and it does make you feel guilty saying no! Obviously some charities may not meet the criteria? But a pot of people could feel good knowing they've given to more then one and made a difference! But the big one is cutting running costs!

An even better idea would be to cancel all foreign aid and money given to the European Union, and then spend it on research in this country. I'd much rather the government spend its money on scientific research in Britain and helping the poor rather than funding Pakistan's nuclear weapons programme or paying for Robert Mugabe's new palace.
