If you take the game as a whole, I think Liverpool were slightly better or at least, sharper. However, we created the better chances and didn't deserve to lose. Everyone played well but there were one or two mistakes that ultimately cost us. Yoshida was awful early on but improved as the game went on. Wanyama put in the hardest tackle I think I have ever seen and was generally good, albeit he run out of puff a bit near the end. Ward-Prowse is really coming on but should he have shot? We did give the ball away a bit too often and possibly didn't close down as well as last year but all-in-all, very happy with the performance including the new boys and even the substitutions. The next few games are crucial though. Play like today and win and I'm confident we'll have a good season.
BTW, if anyone wants to watch 90 minutes: http://www.footballorgin.com/2014/08/premier-league-2014-2015-liverpool-v.html Do make sure you have your Adblocks and Ghostery software in place. The two files [1st and 2nd halves] at the bottom work very well indeed. You should have zero problems with a fast connection. Clyne's goal was an absolute beaut. Think I may have to download that for later post ups in the season. The 2nd half is certainly worth watching again if you were at the game or had a SKY/stream at the time.
Disagree, I thought you were a lot better than us and the only team that looked like they could or would win. Whether you were just more up for it today I don't know. I think you should be confident with the rest of your season. I didn't rate that Japanese CB though.
You're certainly not the only one who doesn't rate him! Unfortunately we're not all as fortunate as you guys when it comes to CBs. You don't get many better CB pairings in the league than Skrtel and Lovren, in my opinion. Second time in three years now that we've gone up to your place and Skrtel and A N Other have not given our striker a sniff. Lambert then, Pelle now. That said, we do have Gardos to come in for Yoshida. I'm assuming he's quite a bit better.
Thought everyone was good apart from Pelle and Yoshida. Pleased that Bertrand proved the haters wromg., like I thought he might.
He really can't. I'll never understand the bias he's got when it comes to Victor and Cork. Even when Wanyama is a pretty comprehensive pick for MOTM the best he can do is "wellllll, he was pretty good buuuuuuut" Such a hater
He was our standout performer today by a country mile. Coutinho won't have a harder game this season in that sense.
Missed the game today because of family commitments, but reading the analysis on here most of it sounds positive. Very glad to hear the new boys settled in well and I've managed to see Clyne's goal - what a beauty! Tadic is in my good books already for that backheel past a confused Lovren. Sounds like with one or two more additions we can not only survive but be competitive for top half! As someone who thought we'd get hammered today, this has been excellent to read, so glad to have given it a right go!
I knew little of Bertrand, but was open minded about his quality, rather than dismissing him. I was still very pleasantly surprised by his speed and quality. What's his buy out figure..?
