It's getting right up my nose how even the sfc interviewer asks all the questions in the format "is it a or b?" shut your face and let the man answer the question.
As a rangers fan I do not agree with half of what comes out Ibrox. I don't want sugar coated statements when we know things being said are not true. I simply pointed out here an issue I have with this statement. One little sentence in my opinion I felt could have been left out. As said above maybe he was asked question and felt that was right answer to give. If it was an asked question opposed to something he just said then he probably was better addressing it way he did If he just said it then in my opinion he shouldn't have
I think it's more of a case of denying Boruc the chance to compete for his spot by announcing that Forster is the designated number 1 keeper. If anything, Forster, as the new arrival, should wait for his opportunity to stake a claim for the spot and displace Boruc, who had the spot and did nothing wrong to lose it. I'm aware that you don't buy a 10M worth of goalkeeper to keep him on the bench. But I do think it would've been better from the man-managing point of view to at least keep an illusion that there is a chance for Boruc to keep his spot, rather than displace him by declamation.
If I were Boruc, I'd be extremely motivated right now to prove that they're wrong, and I'm the better keeper.
If it was a direct question then yes. Though still think it looks bit silly with everything we know regarding at least one player but I don't know if it was a question to him or a statement he choose to make
Doubt it.....once these players heads are turned it seems very difficult to yank them back. We'll see, if he plays today there may well be a chance of him staying.
Boruc isn't being denied a chance to compete, he's just been told he is no longer the automatic first-choice. He will get his chances back in the side, Forster is bound to pick up the odd knock here and there, so Artur better be ready and raring to go, and the it will be up to Fraser to force his way back in.
Is it bigoted to not like your rivals players? I can respect Pompey players (not in this moment in time as they are crap) but I wouldn't follow them around defending them on football forums.
See Laura, here lies the truth. You didn't know if it was a question answer or a statement, yet until this point you chose to announce it as bad PR and a bad statement from the club. Thus, your view was bias or prejudice against the club or pro one of the players who maybe unhappy (not much of a guess needed). Do you now see how so many Saints fans came on here and defended the club against your opinion, because you chose to see only the negative of that sentence due to your loyalties to one individual. Go back to my first reply to you and insaybthat I admire your loyalty to your man, but this is our club and so expect to be questioned when you come on to our board and suggest something is bad about something the club have said, particularly when your view is effected by your loyalty elsewhere.
My view is not effected. It was an opinion. I don't think that sentence should be in there. Unlike some on here who's views they think are gospel I am willing to admit it could have been a question. I still side towards it was a bit of bad pr. It is my opinion and you do not have to agree
That player who's starting today, as opposed to the one who seems to have dropped his toys. Let's hope he can react in the same way eventually. Have a word.
Interviewer: Les, How is morale at Southampton at the moment? Are all the players happy? Les: no comment, next question It doesn't work Laura. If he was asked that question he either says yes or he himself brings bad PR by not answering or saying most or some
re: competition for places, proving you're worth. You could never have a happy team 100%, there are 40ish squad members with only 11 starting places plus a bench. If a player thinks he is only here to make up the numbers then he has the wrong attitude, you need players that think Ill get a chance and seize it. Some players will accept their not the the first or second choice, younger players need to wait for the chance to player and older players who may not be as fit as they used to be can keep pushing for a place (Boruc) or accept they will not make it and move on (poss Gazza). I suppose you can have every one content for now. If Boruc, Morgan and Corky want to leave, let them but get the right replacements in first.
I agree with SouthamptonFCroatia, and think it could have been handled much better. To declare a number 1 keeper does put that player as an automatic pick unless injured/suspended. We wanted competition, yet we do not have two players fighting over the number 1 spot as it has been declared already (before Koeman had even seen Forster train apparently). I think the fact that Forster is also Dave Watson's pick, and because he works with Watson for England, I would be surprised to see him dropped no matter what Boruc may do in training or in cup games (if he plays), and Boruc may feel the same. If he has any hopes of continuing as number 1 for Poland then he must be playing every week, especially as Fabianski will now also be playing regularly at this level. If he is therefore unhappy because of that, I would completely understand, and for the sake of his international career would hope that he moves on. As far as I am aware, neither Man City nor Chelsea have come out and said which of their keepers will be number 1 this season, which I think keeps the morale and competition up, which would have been a much more sensible thing for us to have done if we wanted real competition. On a side note, I think Boruc might have saved that first Liverpool goal today as he spreads himself so well, not sure any keeper would have had a chance with the second.
