Since you ask, relative to Monk's average, negative is worse. passing completion: -2%, but within his standard range. possession: -13% territory: -2% Forget the last two numbers, they should be expected from United away ... I would think. In terms of passing completion I would call it typical Monk - I don't want to imply a negative with that label. I am looking forward to seeing the numbers after say 10 games, I think they may then reflect a different style of play than we have watched over the previous several seasons.
Looks like I missed all the fun on here yesterday, poor old Valley had to sort it out on his own. Sorry But what a win, very good performance, bit sloppy in possession for my liking at times, but I put that down to the first game of the season and as we play more we will get back into our ways. Glad for Monk too. I did read somewhere someone not happy with Taylor, I thought he had a great game, much better defensivly than Davies, especially when it comes to blocking shots/crosses, his closing down is far better than Bens too, more often he was no further than a few steps away from the winger, where as Ben would be a few metres away. Of course going forward he isn't Ben, but hopefully that will come in time, as mentioned, his previous partner was Sinclair, who never liked to pass. Was a great finish by Ki, very happy for him too. We were fortunate for the winner though, the slip by Routledge fell kindly for us. But a good finish from Siggy. Thought Gomis was strong when he came on, felt a bit for Bony though, as many times he seemed to have to come deep to get the ball. Montero also looked good during his time on the pitch. Still think a bit of a show-boater who at times could cross first time, or find the pass back instead of trying to take on the defender, but hopefully that will come as he settles into the club, and in fairness, its how we got the winner so can't be too critical. Also thought Monk did something really good yesterday which I personally found lacking last season, the right subs at the right time. With Januzaz giving Taylor some trouble, and with him being on a yellow, Tiendalli was the right call. Gomis coming on for Bony, was also a good call, although would like to think he was going to use both Bony and Gomis had the score remained 1-1 whilst Gomis was getting ready. Montero on for Dyer was also the right call. On another note, and this is not meant as a bash, but we cannot get away from the fact that United were poor yesterday, if they play like that throughout the season, they will be nowhere near the top 6 clubs.
Neither would come anywhere near the no. of countries. Although under Tosh we had about 14-15 internationals on the books, even in the second division IIRC, around ten were Welsh, a couple of Yugoslavs, 2 or 3 English and a couple of Scots. Only 4 countries.
Just read the last few pages and I'm wondering if I'm on the right forum It's like a love-in around here now Glad to see we're all still basking, feels great. And cheers Valley on sorting out the squabbling reprobates! Let's keep it up Jacks
Just got back and am knackered. Fantastic day (although we nearly didnt make it due to a crash) The team were outstanding as were the fans.
Man U fans giving London-born Shelvey **** for being a Scouser when their own Captain and goal-scorer is a real one was hilarious.
So true. I've known a few "Man Utd fans" from Swansea that had no interest in the Swans (although probably more interested since they've been in the Prem).
