I saw Pelle doing plenty around the box laying the ball off for his team mates. Once he settles in he will start taking his chances. RK wouldn't have brought him in if he didn't think he could come good in the Premiership.

Yep first game granted, will give him a chance.
Needs to make himself some into some kind of presence physically or with runs. Did neither all match in my opinion. Didn't move to attack a ball in the air, hard up against lovren and skrtel, but really didn't make them work. Feel Gallagher is a better option on that display as he is mobile, but time will tell.

Man of the match - protected the back 4, broke up the attacks and stopped your (I assume you're a Liverpool fan) playmaker from doing anything. The only mistake he made (as pointed out after the game by the "pundits" was not getting enough distance on his header which lead to the winning goal.
I'm very pleased with the team's performance - the circling vultures must be disappointed we didn't fall apart - credit to Ron and his team for putting out a decent performance and narrowly losing. We need to win next week now ..................

Gerrard couldn't play today cos JWP played him out the game. Great tactical move by RK in my opinion.
Victor should have got MotM by a country mile with JWP close behind.
On Pelle, remember who was marking him, both top CBS.
Wonder if RK will change his mind about signing another CB now? Hope so

    One more thing -

Well done Mark Clattenburg. I don't think he got too much wrong today and kept control of the game well.

Not down heartened at all. Thought we played really well and deserved something out of the game. The only thing that disappointed me was that we didn't use all 3 subs and felt our centre midfielders looked tired nearing the end. Other than that, was really pleased.

What a finish by Clyne, Davis needs to take note.

I think with a new Winger and Gardos to come in, Ramirez and Jay to come back, we really could have a good team. I like this formation as well, Ramirez can play in the hole against lesser teams, JWP showed good work ethic. Good performance, sloppy goal to concede at the end but we do need Gardos ASAP.

Started the game playing very deep; Liverpool had all of the ball in the early stages, though they weren't able to create much. Sturridge and Stirling were having some luck making runs inside Clyne and not getting tracked, however, and Henderson played Stirling through on one such run...Forster had no chance, 1-0.

From there though, we were the better team for the majority of the game. Stopped playing so many long balls, instead building primarily through Tadic, who was fantastic. Overran them in midfield, eventually got a deserved goal when Clyne (who spent a rather remarkable amount of time in their box) got on the end of a Tadic backheel and slammed it in off the bottom of the bar.

Should've taken the lead through Steven Davis, when JWP unselfishly (and on a couple occasions, he perhaps was within his rights to be more selfish) found him unmarked in the area, but rather than putting his foot through it, he hit it rather tamely to Mignolet.

Liverpool started to come alive midway through the second half, and repeat failures to clear a ball led to Stirling heading over our defenders...Clyne went to sleep, Sturridge got on the end of it and tapped home for 2-1.

We should have had an equalizer in the final moments, as Pelle knocked one down for Schneiderlin, who fired a rocket that Mignolet somehow knocked on to the bottom of the bar...it bounced out to Long, who managed to head it wide under pressure from a few yards out.

Overall, really encouraging performance. We're going to live and die by the efforts of our midfield this year, and they were terrific.

The only thing he did get wrong was that he correctly ignored a lot of dives today but failed to book anyone for them!!!!

I'd like to see Long or Ramirez come in for Davis. Ward-Prowse moving back to the Davis role. Gardos in for Yoshida.

Wanyama and Clyne were the best players I thought. We were really unlucky not to get something.

I don't care who he supports. Racism is disgusting.

But going by his username, yes, looks like he's probably a United fan.

As you know I don't like that word, but in this case more than appropriate.
