Why would you think that? He has the highest assist rate in Europe for the past 2 seasons by an absolute mile (though granted, playing in the Dutch league). Lovren, as you have seen now, is a beast and can pass. He'll be great until he starts losing his concentration which has always been his failing. He was always going to concentrate hard today though. Won Ugly, not a classic perfomance. Some players far off the top of their games. But we have players to come in and competition will raise the levels of those who were not at their best. If Coutinho isnt on form we have Suso who can come in as a direct replacment or Ibe/markovic as a different type of player. Just happy with the 3 points, hard game next
Can't complain too much, first game - no injuries and three points. Good to see Sterling picking up where he left off with a goal and an assist. Lucas for me has never got back to his best since returning from injury and maybe it's his time to move on. You can see we're clearly not fully up to speed in terms of fitness so hopefully over the coming weeks we'll see an improvement. Very important to get a win under the belt with both city and spurs on the horizon. Onwards and upwards.

Given our next two games it was essential we won this. Southampton always give us a tough fixture. But it's 3 points more than we got out of this fixture last season. We got nothing from city away so a draw would be a great result. Need to play better than this. Think we will
I think the us tour was really bad for preparation cos the tactical genius van gaal tells me so Never mind lfc playing two lads in Lucas and Gerrard that Homer Simpson could out run Manquillo needs to learn to pass forward and sturridge needs to realise that if he's no 9 he's got to play up not out wide, coutinho was not able to get into the game But.... Whoooo hoooo win! Glad to see Southampton have heart and a few good lads as well and I hope they go do well from here
Manquillo was solid if not spectacular. Harsh booking but stayed on his feet after that. Cut out plenty of crosses and was up against arguably their best player on the day. Johnson was ok.. But just lost all confidence on the ball. He defended ok today though but offered nothing going forward. Skrtel n Lovren looked good together. Lucas was average and lost his Man for the goal. Once we get Lallana and Markovic up n ready we should have more options up front. Couldn't really change much around today.
I'd have Can in every time. Gerrard and Lucas didn't look to do much at all today, didn't give the back four any cover really, didn't create much to build up play. Too early to judge really, few players need to bed in. Hopefully GJ will loose his place before long, would be great if we could get rid of him before the end of August. I can't remember the last time Lucas had a good game, he's been alright, but not great. I think Gerrard is going to be carried more than he carries us this season. I'd like to see Hendo and Can in front of the back four, Lallana, Coutinhio and Sterling in front of them, Studge up top. Just need a Striker now, and get a decent DCM next summer. Good game though. Saints looked decent, we won without playing too well, but we need to do better.
Moreno,Markovic and Lallana yet to come through. The reality is if players become complacent, they will have sufficient competition sniffing at their backs and once everyone is fit and firing, my expectation is such performances will be far and few. All in 3 points #wegoagain
Oh and shout out to mig. Flappy at one corner and kicking wasn't great, but won us 2 points with that save onto the bar. People will always criticise him for his kicking but I want my keeper to save shots first and for most and today, that's what he did!

Good win for liverpool. Still reckon you need to get another CM in the Matic mould as you look shaky defensively.
I would have Can and Henderson both just support Gerrard next game, his legs are shot in any running sense. Thought we looks ok, should of been a draw but exceptional strikers win you games
