To be fair, people here are only seeing signs that will prove right their ready-made opinions. Pelle worked hard, he covered a lot of ground. Lovren got the better of him for most of the match. But we all know that, on his day, Lovren can stop any striker. On the other hand, Pelle got the better of Škrtel for a fair few times, and generally picked up a lot of long balls and passed them to a teammate. And how many people will note who provided the knockdown for Schneiderlin when he hit the bar? And the action before that, when Mignolet saved JWP's volley? That's right, Pelle did that. But let's forget about that. He's ****.
@GaryLineker: They may have lost, but if I were a Saints fan I'd be hugely encouraged by that performance. Despite a summer of madness, they'll be fine. @JanKluit: Thank you Mr Lineker
The goals will come from intricate play around the box and spare men running through....we should really have scored at least 3 today. Jay is going to LOVE the service from Dusan.
Confirms that I'm happy about selling Chambers. Liverpool should have so obviously bought Clyne, but too late now. Arsenal moving Chambers to CB gets him closer to the England team as well.
All those people writing off Pelle, two things to consider; 1. That was his first experience of the PL, he can only get better. 2. He won't come up against many better CB pairings than Skrtel and Lovren this season. Lovren, the bastard, was immense.
I can understand people being disappointed with Pelle today, but Long looked very bright when he came on. Ok, he probably should have put that header away, but he was involved, and looked much more likely to score.
Croatia- I'm with you all the way. Too many people made up their minds before a game was played. First half he wasn't in the game; second half he got more and more into it and contributed well.
You guys done a Rope-a-Dope on the rest of the league, thought you sold all your "best" players? You guys played brilliant, keep Morgan.. keep playing that Ward-Prouse (spelling?) chap and let the new players bed-in, you'll be fine, I'd predict top half finish for you guys, no chance of relegation! If we didn't win, drew the game, I wouldn't have reason to complain about the result! Good luck for the rest of the season
JWP Will have a fantastic Season this year. we will be scoring a fair amount of goals from Deadball situations. Tadic was wow., If anything can be better than lallana.. Clyne was immense as usual. Big Vic was everywhere.. Dominated the midfield. Looking forward to our new signings coming in and Rodriguez and Ramirez to come back.. Meltdown? Nah...
Well played Saints, strange game with a very quiet crowd throughout. Can't see you being in any trouble this season if today's game is anything to go by.
Pelle was fine. As lots of others said, he grew into the game and had the beating of Skrtel. Lovren was just too good for him. It was a decent performance and most people expected defeat anyway.
Pelle was so isolated in the first half because we were not pushing up enough. The second half actually saw him link play well, hold the ball and work pretty well, just because he had our players much closer to him. He wasn't an outstanding player today, but hard to slate him based on a huge lack of support in the first half. Long should be pulled apart by horses for that miss though. Davis too for such a limp effort.
As usual, (as was the case with Rickie last season) Strikers are judged by how many they score....Pelle had an average game, but once he starts scoring I think he will be fine.
