Well, 1-0 at HT. Not the best half of football, but then give me a team that have played well in their first game so far? After a WC year, teams normally take 3 or 4 games to get back up to full speed. Could do with moving the ball around a bit quicker and need a bit more movement up top. Sterling & Sturridge need to look to run in behind a few more times, even if they don't get the ball as it puts doubt in the defenders mind and they tend to drop back a bit, leaving more space for Coutinho in the middle of the pitch.
Look so poor. No urgency at all, Johnson is just terrible and Mignolet is still shaky and just slows the play up, he's like watching Finnan trying to take a throw in.
Not played particularly well but winning. Take that. Courthino has been totally out of it but he can turn a game in an instance. Just don't like Lucas and Gerrard playing together, seem to get in each other's way. Lucas has played ok but would rather see Can or Allen
That is true I know. Last year was just the same for a few games. Just we looked raring to go a week ago and full of confidence
Very satisfied with our central defence and defending in general. Lovren is gold. He's making Skrtel a calmer decision-maker too. They'll forge a great partnership I think, not least because of a tapping into a Croatian-Slovakian wavelength. The goal was not surprisingly produced by a fast break. Should try more of those - we're good at them.
Worst half of football I've seen in a long time. Rodger's has totally ****ed up with his team selection. Get Can on for Lucas, and a potted shrub for Johnson. I mean how bad are Southampton if they cannot even once in 45 minutes take on Johnson down the right wing? Everything they did came from the left, and luckily they just don't have anyone who can take advantage over our **** No.2. Johnson must have some dangerous **** on Rodgers, how can a complete ****-up like that keep getting a game?
Its the 1st game of the season. We are 1 up and we have control and some of you are already moaning! If it stays as is then its a start and shows a lot of promise. As for Lucas he's doing splendidly alongside gerrard but some of you will give neaither of them any praise!

Lucas is playing ****ing rugby, he is only passing back.. SPLENDIDLY????!!!!??? Are you on crack!?!?! We need someone in the middle of the park, we don't need a 6 man defence, Southampton haven't got that much to deserve this **** formation. Yes we are 1-0 up, but we have Citeh next week, and if this is our level pf play, we are ****ed.
Johnson has been solid. He's been bombing forward with some purpose, while keeping his flank neat defensively. He's better than Flano.
Think some harsh words on here. Its not been f very spectacular football (in fact rather pedestrian). However we're winning and comfortable. As long as we build on this and get our confidence and swagger back we'll be ok. I wouldn't be happy with this performance in November but for August it's not bad. As long as we don't concede! Man Quills card was harsh in my opinion considering all the unbooked fouls on him.
Got to give credit where credit is due, Mignolet has impressed me today, most complete performance from him in a Liverpool shirt ever.
