I know mate. Just making a facetious point after too many guinnesses. Just trying to find some positives.
I EXPECT HIM TO TRY AND GET INTO SPACE FOR THE BALL, WHEN IT COMES NEAR HIM TO CHALLENGE FOR THE BALL AND WIN IT NOW AND AGAIN. I EXPECT HIM TO BE ABLE TO HOLD UP THE BALL AND BRING OTHERS INTO THE GAME. HE WAS EASILY KNOCKED OFF THE BALL, HE POSES NO THREAT ON THE SHOULDER OF THE DEFENDER. I THOUGHT HE WAS TERRIBLE TODAY AND SHOULD MAKE WAY FOR WICKHAM ASAP. I guess you can tell from this that I don't rate Fletcher at all.
Caps rage! When I type in caps the board converts the casing back to normal. What's the crack there like? Test. HAAAAWAAAAAAY!
Yes, good summary Cest. Just 1 thing in there that occurred to me about AJ not turning up... do you think AJ might want away before the window closes? I might be totally wide of the mark. Hope so.
Just watched MOTD and my word. 2 fantastic goals, we've seen Catts try shots like that numerous times and at last one has gone in. The 2nd goal was possible even better as there was some beautiful play leading up to the goal where we completely opened up their defence with some precise passing and what a finish from Larsson.
Cattermole's pass leading up to the 2nd goal was class and, if it was Gerrard the media would be creaming their pants. The fact that there were 2 new players involved in the move was very pleasing, the move was so precise it looked like they'd been playing together for a season. Yeah there are a few things to improve on but, haway things aren't that bad, it's not like we're Man Utd
Must be getting old, I'd forgotten the Southampton match. I guess I was also trying to erase the first half of last season from my memory.
Likewise and totally agree, 2 great goals - 2nd was really well worked and PvA ( got to be a glue related nickname there somewhere ) made up for his poor defending for their 2nd. If the ref's are consistent this season, there's gonna be loads of pens- what an awful decision
Had Rodwell, Larsson Wickham or fletcher had scored Catts' goal it would have been reviewed by the panel. Catt's had an excellent game yesterday and was mom for me. Others going for Larsson then some saying we need to strengthen through the middle...lol
One of my pet hates about the forum, with this thread. Not the post, that's his view, a debateable, but still his view..More the fact, that a thread was made, then nowt, sit back and watch and have no more input into the thread, without any reasoning to try and counter act, others views and defend his own. He watched the thread for a long time yesterday, and also today, yet no counter points of view. It's a strange one. But still on the plus side, he made a thread, so will take my hat of to him for that..
Good point, Cattermole is obviously very unpopular in the game, the media can't wait to jump on him. And gullible supporters are easily persuaded that he's a useless clogger. Some of the weak as piss midfield players who are continually bigged up for the England squad couldn't lace his boots. Hodgson was begging Gerrard not to quit but he won't even bother to watch Cattermole this season, no matter how well he plays. Instead we'll see the media slavering over whoever plays for West Ham or Spurs .......
Not Strange at all, I look at the comments made on my post and take them in, some great points have been made, I didn't see the match but heard the reports on it, I haven't changed my opinion, I just want Sunderland to do well and I am sure they will if they keep faith with the manager and his idea's.
Fletch is and always will be a "fox in the box" type player, I cant see him as a leader of the line, both Whicks and Jozy are better bets, Gus rightly does not favour two up front so a goal poacher is a luxury we cant afford. I personally would sell him and strengthen our defensive and midfield options. Incidently both goals came from mid-field and what crackers they were.
Never seen him as a fox in the box myself, not sharp enough, not sure what he is after Saturday though. TBH, he looked like the only person on the pitch looking to play the MoN way. He just stood there expecting direct balls to him. I personally don't think he can hack the style we play. As you say Wicks and Jozy would be better as they work harder for the team, but looking at Wickham's passing ability, Jozy's conversion rate and Fletcher's laziness I have grave fears about our strikers. There's no way our four present strikers are worth 29m combined.
Fletcher looked like a dinosaur on Saturday ....... I was appalled at how he wanted to play the 'Fletcher way' not the way the rest were playing. Never has the phrase, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks," hit home so much. I'd love to see him leave in this window after seeing that display.
Well the fitness excuse has gone now mate. He's my 3rd choice now. He doesn't grasp moving as unit. There should be no isolation in the way we play, look at jozy last season, he was never isolated, if we were being pressed back he'd move with the unit drop deep, taking defenders with him, creating a bit of space to counter(shame we lacked so much pace), Fletcher refusing to drop deep and work with the team left him isolated with defenders on him giving little opportunity to hit on the break.
