If I read the script right, we lose by being on the end of a controversial Refereeing decision that turns the game on its head.
From the ****ing telegraph preview: Match Notes For the first time in Premier League history, an English team meets its feeder club on the opening day of the season. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Southampton-team-news-and-match-preview.html
We've lost you as well this summer? This is the final straw! On LFC, that Markovic looks like an exciting player. Losing Suarez & eventually Gerrard is going to be tough, though you have plenty of players who have the potential to get to that world class level. Sturridge, Sterling & the aforementioned Markovic. Agree with the majority of pundits i've read that fourth place would be an excellent result for Liverpool. This is essentially a transitional season. Not a Southampton style re-build, but you've added an extension and that will take a little time to adapt too.
Be disappointed if Forster does start. I think it would have made more sense if Boruc started - it's a tough game and he will have a better understanding with the defence. I feel he's proved himself worthy to start as he was good last season, plus if Boruc has a bad game it means the fans would accept Forster coming in and he'll have a potentially easier first game. If Boruc plays well, then that's good for the club anyway, and Forster can come in if Boruc's performance drops. On the other hand, if Forster starts and has a shocker, it might knock his confidence, plus fans might get on his and the club's back for spending so much on someone who may appear no better, or worse, than Boruc. I suppose he could have a great first game and create a good bond with the fans, I just feel that there is a greater risk of it being a negative outcome against Liverpool.
I think the opposite. Hey, lets spend £10m on a goalkeeper. Oh, but lets not play him unless it knocks his confidence. We've bought the guy because we think he is better than Boruc. If so we should play him now. If he is better than Boruc and those who bought him are right it could be the difference between a loss or a draw/win!! I also think a goalkeeper being used to his defence is a bit overhyped. defenders being used to each other maybe but goalkeepers either come for the ball or they don't. The rest they shout orders. I don't think it is a risk at all in terms of 'gelling'. If he is going to have a shocker he will have a shocker. It doesn't matter which game he plays in. The club / RK have made their statement. They bought an expensive keeper then said he is first choice. Stick by that conviction and show faith in that keeper.
This man has started in: fierce, world-reknown derbies, Champions League games and a ferocious match as supreme underdogs away to Messi and Barcelona (when they were considered the best club side ever by many). We're worried about him getting his feelings hurt on an opening day away to Liverpool? He's not 17, this isn't his first game. He will be good to go right off the bat. He's played for England for ****s sake, this is nowhere near the biggest game of his life.
Anyone sat in the back 2 rows (severely restricted view) at the away end in Anfield? Get mixed comments when I've asked in the past.

No doubt Suarez was the key player for Liverpool last season. They'll miss him every bit as much as spurs missed Bale. On the other hand, lovren will make a big difference to their hitherto shaky defence. I can foresee the horrible git excelling for them. As for 2morro, yeah, we can get something. Maybe. Let's just not get thumped.
I agree with you're reasoning here. I have nothing against Forster, but Boruc has a better understanding with our back four and surely it's important part of the game. Give Forster few weeks to settle in, get to know his teammates, and then, if he's better than Boruc, give him the number one spot. Seems to me a better course of action.
It doesn't seem worth it. The roof blocks the view and the seats are on the same level as the row in front, so you can't see the pitch unless you're a full head taller than the people you're behind. please log in to view this image
