So now the Agard deal is off because Cellino is working within a set wage budget and he won't move beyond it ... Agard held talks but Cellino has walked away stating that the player "has a bad attitude" ... what a shame, was looking forward to seeing him play against Boro tomorrow Now, with Viviani, Sorensen and now Agard all coming to Leeds, having medicals and holding talks and then it all collapsing, is El Presidente being too hard line? Does he need to soften his stance a bit to get the right players into our club? Look, his work so far at improving our squad has been really encouraging, with no has beens on final paydays joining us. But is he being too rigid?
He obviously has his idea of what each individual player is worth, in terms of transfer fee (if any) and wages and it looks like he won't budge. Can't see this being a problem provided he has other options available. In fact, as long as he does have other options and lands them instead I applaud this stance. Long gone are the days when Leeds United can be taken for a ride, whether it's buying or selling players.
We've been a soft touch and/or ripped off by money men for far too long. If it means missing out on a few players who are just looking for a payday, so be it. You can go too far either way of course, but if some come and some don't, there's a balance being found.
No point having a budget if you don't stick to it. Fair play to cellino for sticking to his guns, sends a message out to every other play aswell. If you want to wear the shirt this is the deal,if not bye bye.
I agree with every one of the above. No longer are we a soft touch. As I keep saying, I only care about who signs and so far that's been all good
Agree budget is budget, don't agree publicly shaming players we don't sign, it will scare off other targets
Guys, I think you're all making a big assumption here. Cellino didn't like his attitude, but doesn't specify that it was his attitude towards money. It could have been anything. Perhaps he disrespected Cellino or Hockaday. Perhaps he refused to live in Leeds. We'll never know. I know the agent says it was all about money, but I trust agents about as far as I can throw them - i.e. I smell bullshine.
Hope Cellino gets a suitable reception at Elland road tomorrow. He's fixed a hell of a lot in a short space of time and put smiles back on a lot of faces
