Thought Dembele looked real quality at Fulham but doesn't seem to have worked out at Spurs, he'd be a great addition for me if SB can work his magic on him!
The more and more i look at this the more i think Andros Townsend may well be a possibility. I think Bruce's plan may be to just play the one striker with creative players behind him. We have Sagbo and Jelavic to play the lone striker role, plus Aluko if needed. Another defender and a couple more midfielders would help if this was his idea. This could leave a first choice starting line up along the lines of McGregor Elmo Davies Chester Rosenior Livermore Huddlestone Snodgrass Ince Townsend Jelavic This would also give us a very strong bench with the likes of Maguire, Boyd, Sagbo, another defender, another midfielder, robertson plus others
Still think that, no matter which way you look at it, even with one up top we need another striker. However Snodgrass/Ince/Townsend would be incredible... Sometimes I have to take a step back and look at these names being thrown around, it's unreal.
I think if Aluko was to be played on his own then it would very much be an interchangeable front four rather than a 3 and a 1, a sort of 'false 9' employed by barcelona etc
We obviously had money left before the Long deal because we where in for Dawson. Personally I'd like to see a like for like replacement for Long, centre midfielder and centre a back. Cover at right back and another forward wouldn't go a miss as well.
I've banged a 3 behind a 1 for some time, I love it. Only trouble is Sagbo isn't a lone striker so that would leave Jelavic until we add another striker. If SB buys/loans a Long type player then it'll be as a partner for Jelavic, if he buys/loans a Deeney type player then he lends himself to playing a lone role. Having said all that, SB has consistently made noises that he's all about the 3-5-2.
Personally i don't want our manager coming out and telling other teams we'll spend £12m on a striker, if it's theirs we want then they'll know what to ask for...
Harry Rednap states on pre-match interview, (Tiger Player) Bruce spoke to him about a player who use to play for him,but is at another club. Could well be Townsend, or Remy, as both have played for him at QPR.
When SB says that he has irons in the fire that normally means that something is about to happen. To think that by losing Long we shall now be even better than when we had Long. Long may it continue.
