Don't know if you have been to Vietnam before, if not you will be amazed by the number of motorbikes in Saigon (HCMC), Cu chi tunnels is a must visit, though I bottled it in the tunnels myself, too small and enclosed for me so turned back Enjoy.
You're off the hook, Stan. Despite Uber Major, Uber Minor and Little Miss Uber taking it in turns to complain about (1) it's too hot, (2) so-and-so keeps annoying me, (3) I'm thirsty, (4) I'm hungry, (5) too much walking, (6) this is boring and (7) aren't other tourists rude, I rather enjoyed the day. It was a bit of an anticlimax queuing at the monastery at Panormitis, though, to discover the line was to view somebody's shed that was filled with religious artefacts and had the walls painted with Dennis Wheatley type images. Also a bit odd to watch sweaty overweight Germans kissing certain pictures encased in glass. The main town was nice, however, but disturbing to have to pay â¬72 for fare I'd expect even the restaurant in BHS to be embarrassed to serve. Good place if you're a big time fan of sponges. The highlight was a cooling dip off the quayside, spoiled by the arrival of a chap the image of my bank relationship manager at Lloyds and his family of young Oiks, who took it in turns to dive bomb into a smallish area of water. To anybody that hasn't been, it's basically Balamory in the sunshine.
Northern tip of Norway Lofoten islands Whale watching in the arctic circle Glorious sunshine 22 hours per day There was a guy mowing his lawn at 1 in the morning 0 living my dream!
Off to SW France (Comiac) to stay with friends in their farmhouse home. Plenty of R&R with good friends, wine and food. Still manage to get first game in before leaving Saturday.
These last two post fill me with inordinate amounts of jealousy... Norway sounds amazing - I attempted some Whale watching in the Bay of Biscay a couple of years ago...we got treated to force 8 and 9 winds and only saw a couple of Fin Whales for our troubles! Any Blue Whales up in Norway? and then...SW France, food and drink. I really need a holiday! At least I can relax and "enjoy" the return of the Premiership...
I'm currently staying just outside Burton Bradstock in Dorset, which I've just found out is home to a hero of mine, Billy Bragg. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...mous-resident-Billy-Bragg-masses-rising-.html
Just had a lovely family day at Lulworth Cove and Durdke Door, Strolli-Poos. I could've dropped by for macaroons.
Sorry I missed you Uber. It's lovely here when the sun is shining, but there's been a lot of rain this week. I did the coast walk down to West Bay yesterday, whilst the rest of the family drove. Quite an adventure in the wind and rain.
Your family sound a bit like mine, Stroller. I'd be happy to walk and walk, but they'd rather hop into a car or, better still, stay at home on the Xbox. I despair of them sometimes - youth wasted on the young etc. It stayed dry for us today, but it was a bit blowy up on the hill between Lulworth and Durdle Door. I could've done without the miserable Goth family in the dog-friendly pub at lunchtime though, particularly the mother who made the big mistake of muttering "bloody dog" about our Labradoodle just because she had to walk around where he lay. Mrs Uber can be quite formidable when her beloved 'Doodle is insulted! How long are you in Dorset for?
Everywhere seems to be dog-friendly, in fact everyone seems to have a dog with them at all times. Couldn't bring my Newfoundland unfortunately as he would have wreaked havoc. Heading back to the smoke on Saturday just in time to see us thrash Sunderland.
You must have a big house as they take up a lot of space! Enjoy the remainder of your stay a feel free to flick a V in a northerly direction at me my if you're heading up the M3 past the Eastleigh junction. (I always do this on the train at Farnborough for the benefit of Mrs Uber's mother)
Staying in Devon this week just outside Tavistock. Spent today in Falmouth where there is a tall ships regatta and tomorrow will be in Dartmouth for their annual regatta with the Red Arrows finishing the day with a display over the River Dart...
Beautiful part of the country Sooper. Watch the traffic tomorrow, Dartmouth is a bottleneck at the best of times, park and ride may be a good option.
As you say Stan, last time I visited I used the park and ride as at Falmouth today, both are overrun when anything is on. Luckily got decent weather today and hopefully the same tomorrow...
