It's the £12m that's the problem with Long. Almost everyone thinks he's a decent enough squad member, probably worth £6m or so. And also that we needed a big player to give us the feeling that we could move on without regret. We dared to dream of Hernandez, for example - and that's why it's so disappointing. Paying £4m for this kid is like going back to Nat Clyne territory, which right now is what many of us would rather do I think.
There is probably a well known phrase for it, but there is no real mystery with Long. We've all seen enough to make our minds up about him and we know his strengths and weaknesses. With a young player like this who has shown glimpses or has a nice youtube video and that magical potential then we can all get behind it and the fee seems reasonable. Its the same with some players from abroad who have yet to become familiar
The irony is that the commentator says after a few seconds..."great cross from the player of the game so far, Nathan Redmond"... you couldn't make it up
I wrote a 2000 word piece of coursework on it. It completely reformed the communist party of China, allowing some of it's most prominent leaders to announce themselves and eventually take over the the entire nation. So I mean it can't be that bad a sign.
@SimonPeach 3 Jul 2012 #SaintsFC are hopeful of tying up a deal for Vitesse's Alexander Büttner, but I understand talk of Rangers' Steven Davis is wide of the mark
I know this was a joke but in case it wasn't I live on Beijing and work in football (premiership and la liga). The few that have heard of us think we're ****, the Chinese and especially the rich ones always go for glamour. I though I'd escaped the ridicule coming here, I haven't
Ironic that his signing for MUFC allowed a certain Luke Shaw to develop and progress...and then sign for MUFC
So you take Peach's word for it rather than someone who would know more about it? Are you that desperate to be proved right?
