i was just being light hearted with u, no rudeness intended. Apologises it came across that way. I can only say contrary to your comments, the stand is open every home game (so not sure why you say they barely open it up these days). Yes it may at best of times only hold a couple of hundred fans but that's not due to the structure but lower league football appeal to travelling fans. It's a horrible stand i agree and most if not all Gills fans would support those thoughts, but do you really believe in today's health and safety zealous, that it would be allowed to open unless it was safe and certificated. But yes it is an embarrassment.

Ha, I 'followed' the Gills having spent a large part of my youth in Kent. Was even at Wembley to see them win the 2000 Div2 Play Off Final, fcking brilliant day, my best ever non-Newcastle matchday experience. Still have friends in Maidstone, Ashford and Medway, so might be up for this one.

You might only be given an allocation of 1500-2000 depending on how much home support we can generate for a midweek game.

Whenever I go there doesn't seem to be many/any home fans up that end but it appears I'm wrong so I apologise! It is ridiculous stand though, however always enjoyed my games at the Gills so I won't criticise too much!

No problem. The club tend to section off most the stand with covers so that they can group away fans in a more manageable area, normally the top section. Plus i assume it prevents any ideas of venturing on to the pitch. Last season one section nr the GRS was used for home fans, as there has always been complaints about the Town End being taken away from us. Although there was not a great uptake. I think the last time i remember the stand being near full was in our L2 title winning game against AFC Wimbledon, couple of seasons back. Probably Stoke FA Cup before that.

The club had promised this season to move away supporters in to the GRS when the weather is bad and the away fans are low in numbers. However, I assume with Newcastle's visit the BMS (scaffolding) will be open in full, apart from any segregation IF required. Also i expect the police and health and safety will get the final call, not Scally, as he has crossed their wrath before against Swindon.

And yes, i agree the stand is ridiculous and long overdue replacement, it was only ever meant to be temporary! Huh!...if i was treated to that sight i wouldn't be happy either. Although i did note that a temporary stand was used in the WC2014 Brazil...lol

For any of you guys travelling down...stick this postcode in... ME8 6BY...and there is a Premier Inn with eatery at that postcode about 10 mins drive to the ground, unless you fancy a long walk.

They might give them 3k mate, reckon they might move the ST's out of that far section. I just can't see H&S and the Police agreeing both sets in the same stand but i could be wrong. Then you will be right around 2k. Not sure on exact numbers for the ground capacity its always argued between 10.5 - 11.5k.

Any idea lads on how many of yours might travel on a Tuesday night?

minimum 3k seriously? that will fill the BMS (away stand) - i'm not sure if it can be pushed to 3.5k or not. Some people on twitter have been giving comparisons to Stoke where we got less that 10k for the game ie not full house. But Stoke were in Europe that week i believe and many of them refused to travel to our place. I'm assuming your support is more in depth, loyal and hardened than Stoke supporters, so i'd be surprised if this game did not generate a sell out, even for the League Cup. Even more so as it is not on TV.

    Gingerlicious

Used to describe a (rarely seen) sexy, red-haired, freckled, pasty ginger.

Obi: Yuck! She's got a nasty case of gingervitus.

    ACS: You're such a gingerphobe - I think she's gingerlicious.

This one has medium sized PL club killing written all over it.

We've taken a big following to plymouth beforeate and are legendary for our away numbers. There's also a lot of mags in the South East who will attend. The pubs around your place will be crammed with Mags. The landlords best get some extra barrels in :)

I had a dream about a ginger lass in a 'gone with the wind' type dress last night... Very odd.

I reckon 1800 tops. It's a bloody long way to go for a night match. Gillingham and the league cup 2nd round is not much of an attraction.

I would like to think we'd get 3000+ but the way our team/club treat the cups nowadays it's only a matter of time before fans follow suit. Not just yet though I hope.

Well as an supporter of Gills, incl play-off v man city that lasted 100+ mins, you will not enjoy your experience in gillingham. **** ground, **** town, and **** pubs. A temporary stand that is **** but been there for years and still will be, and **** facilities. Just ask them about Maidstone Utd.
