Oh the irony. Drawn at home to Crawley in the cup. All I know about them is my sisters live nearby. And they beat some little team in the last round.
And will probably beat us as well! We just don't do cups any more and recently haven't really done leagues either.
Damning but true But what can we do Except chivvy them with our song, Gone are the days When midweek Cup frays Could help lift our league form along.
All I will say is that you underestimate Crawley at your peril. They are more than capable of turning anyone over on their day as their Cup record shows!
For once I have to agree with Warky. I go to Crawley frequently and see them play a few times every season. They are underestimated at your peril. The better the opposition the better they seem to play - their problem is lack of consistency. I watched last year as they tore apart a team that were in the top 4 and next time I went they lost to a team at the bottom. Despite being a small club with little financial clout they consistently find decent players who then improve further. My Grandson is a Crawley supporter who goes to every home game and he has already arranged to come up and stay a few days so that I can take him to the game. I won't hear the last of it if they take us apart!!
My youngest Son is also a season ticket holder at Crawley and god did he give me some stick after the other night!
Jesus has it come to this? The mighty Crawley at home and everyone is soiling themselves, yes we lost to Luton but surely we should be expecting a win at home . The confidence in our team to beat anyone is ridiculously low...
In my experience having low expectations massively increases your chances of being pleased with the outcome
The point here is that we are of the opinion that we will not see the cup as a priority and our pessimism is based upon that focus rather than the ability as a club as a whole. My view would be different if it had been a league game, but then the point about underestimating them comes more into play.
Surely if Adams is yet to record a single win as manager, he must know a defeat would damage his reputation beyond repair as confidence in him is extremely fragile at the moment by a section of supporters?
It's normally because we show such indifference to cup competitions, escpecially the League Cup (one competition we have had some success in). We usually field a team of three first-teamers, three squad players, three youth team members and two guys from the Barclay .....
Well I am sure he would like a win but the three points in the league before and after the Crawley game will definitely be viewed as a bigger priority. Which would you prioritise?
You would hope that a team that just had 3 years in the top flight would be capable of fielding a side that can beat a Lg1 outfit , and to be honest with you i would be more pissed off losing to a lower quality opposition as Watford are a decent side and i don`t expect an easy game .
So potentially SUPERNORWICH 23, you would be happier beating Crawley and having no points on the board from 3 league games! Sorry, I totally disagree with you. Give me 6 points from the 2 league games and wish Crawley well. I am sure NA would.
No i wouldn`t be happy losing to Watford Blackburne or Ipswich either but they are stronger sides than Crawley also i don`t understand why our club has never been interested in a cup run since the early 80's ?. We have won this competition twice and a cup run can be awesome for testing out players and gaining confidence, we have enough players in our squad to field a decent team without over exhausting our best players.
