So it seems like we've sold Pilks to Cardiff for the derisory sum of just over £1 million! What on Earth is the board playing at; selling a player to a promotion rival (although it doesn't seem like promotion is something we are aspiring to with all the business over the summer) for a small fraction of his actual worth!

Judging from Pilkington's comments it seems like he was just frozen out and sold on the cheap - yet he is is IMO one of our best assets! There is simply no way we will get a replacement of anywhere near the quality for that little money. I can't remember how much we paid for him but it could be more than we have sold him on for!

People may say he has had injury problems but even in spite of this he has been a great player for us but we are letting him go, on the cheap, to a team we should be contesting promotion with. Now this leaves us with both our wingers with any end product departed from us and no prospect of them being replaced. So it looks like we will be watching Surman give the ball away and get tackled, Redmond beat a man and that hack a cross/shot into the stands and Bennett getting in the odd cross but with nobody taller than 6 feet there to get underneath it.

If he wasn't even injured (and I have no reason to doubt him) then he really was just being shipped out. Sounds like the exact same things will be happening with Fer, Becchio and Bassong (maybe Howson too???) also so soon we could be without any of our star assets and the players we have signed have all been fairly mediocre. The board needs to grow a spine and show some ambition - NOW! I will be absolutely livid if we let anymore of our best players go unless it is a) for a inflated price and b) they are replaced with someone of comparable quality.

Poor, poor decision, on his day, which we have to say didn´t actually come around very often, he could be a match-winner, who can forget his deft header to beat Man U. Not quite sure what´s going on at the Club at the moment, or who actually is making the big decisions, but they´re rapidly losing credibility in my eyes.

    Im quite liking this actually.
You've sold a decent player on the cheap. You play another decent winger in a less effective central role. Your RB is terrible and you play your best RB at CB. I was worried about facing you this season but maybe it wont be the humiliation I was worrying about.
TBH I still see you having a good season but some of your decisions do seem baffling to an outsider.

I can't say I'm anything but disappointed to hear this. Having been told that NCFC would not sell any players unless the deal was on our terms to then find out we are going to sell Pilkington to a direct rival for such a small sum. I'm bemused as to why we would want to get rid of him so seemingly desperately. The Snodgrass deal was sensible enough given the price but this will leave us with a shortage of wide players. I hope we will see quality players arriving and better still, our own quality players staying - but this is not the news I want to hear! OTBC

It is strange and I can't help feeling that there has been something that has happened to cause this particular deal. We still have wide players in the squad with pace and energy, the problem is that they do not tend to cross the ball as well as Pilks did. Let's see what happens between now and the closing of the window.
