We have two cups ahead of us and I think we should put them to good use by applying the following mentality...

... ALL OUT ATTACK. In the cups we've got nothing to really lose. Why don't we go into them full guns blazing and throw away the "let's pinch a lead and keep it" mentality. The league is obviously the focus this season but having this attitude in the cup will allow the team to fully practice gung-ho, attacking football and it may translate into more refined attacking in our league campaign.

We haven't done well in a cup for so long so what harm would it do if we threw the kitchen sink at them both and see where we land? Playing conservatively won't save players' energy because huffing and puffing and running around to defend arguably requires more energy. If we get the ball moving and totally surprise times with intensity, I don't think we'll necessarily end up with players who are more tired.

I like your logic and see where your going. I'd agree with you.

Great idea. I love it and gets the thumbs up from me.

I'm usually looking forward to the new season at this stage, but as yet I'm not. I'm trying to understand why, but think it's probably down to the fact that our style of football is just boring. It's as plain and simple as that.

Try to win them, I would like another day at Wembley and not have to wait another 32 years to go back there (I missed '86)........

    Wholeheartedly agree.

Release the pressure by saying it doesn't matter so that they can play freely and rest anyone that definitely needs it but absolutely go for it.

It's also key to use any lower opposition to try to keep the scorers in form (or bring them into it if needed) but, once again, don't tell the individuals concerned.

It's going to be a fairly tense season (unless something miraculous happens) so keep the pressure off the cups to try to get the players relaxed, in form and it might just throw out some entertainment to boot.

couldn't care less about the cups and teams from the bottom half that have over time have all seen horrible league form the further they get. I would announce before tickets go on sale that we are fielding a second string team, let kids go free and adults for £10 and move on. The best thing for us would be to draw Man U away in the first round of the FA cup and go out with some fight then concentrate on the league.

If I had two cups in front of me I'd probably attack them as well but I would just check out her face first!

Opinions now that we've been drawn against Burton? If we didn't have a good per-season we can do some catching up in this game.

    Oh. Carp.

Seriously, I like the OP, and I think in the League cup it would work well, possibly taking us to within a shout of Europe. However I'd like to be shot of the FA cup as soon as possible, especially if we are still in the L/C.

The competition lasts longer, and I'd rather players were fresh for the back end of the season.
