I'd have thought he would be needed at man utd They are a bit thin in strikers now and the pair they'll start with have been injury prone Can't see him leaving unless man utd have a player in mind
both scored winners vs Chelsea? (I'm guessing with Long there) edit - oh, never mind you've already answered it
I backed Long to score 10+ for us this season. I'm not denying Welbeck's ability, I think he's a great player. However, I don't think selling Long for a lot of money and buying a striker whose finishing isn't any better for a lot of money is a great business decision. Not to mention everyone's obsession with "resale value" on this forum.
Welbeck is only 23, he's got a ****load of premier league and European experience, and he's an English international. If by some act of god we get a hold of him I really wouldn't be worrying about resale value
People were complaining that we overpaid for Jake Livermore because we wouldn't make a profit and that he had no resale value despite being 24.
Thats because people are idiots. We should be looking at making a stable prem team, rather than making sue we can sell all our beast players in 5 years time!
I completely agree, we shouldn't sell our best players for an insignificant profit. No. What part of "Premier League season" do you not understand?
Their new formation has done away with wingers (where welbeck has played a lot) and they're playing Van Persie and Rooney together, Hernandez and Keane as back-ups and a few of the unknowns. I think they're alright. Jelavic, Sagbo, Welbeck and a loan would be awesome for the new season.
Welbeck would be an incredible signing. I can't believe we are even talking about the possibility. To potentially get him for a mere 2 mill. more than we apparently have been offered for Long who is not in the same class would be another Huddlestone type coup by Bruce. Amazing...please let it be true!!!
Id love to think that Bruce is already working on this deal... but... I do think its a step too far for us. He's a regular for England and I could see a bigger team coming in for him once they knew he was available, like an Everton or Spurs who are both on the look out for strikers... just cant see it happening.
