Not irrelevent at all. MC is a master of getting the best return on players. By saying he rates him that pushes the price up. This theory also explains the Hunt scenario, we are giving him game time to con someone into thinking he is decent. However if Donut lands another job we wont need to bother, He will sign him up faster than i can type the word kickback.
Greetings all. I'm a Saints fan who visits here often as I inherited a soft spot for Leeds via my mother who was born there. Re Billy, super bloke who has not really had a chance to play for us since we were promoted back to the Prem. A series of niggly injuries and unimpressive loans since then. What he WILL give you is 100% blood and sweat with the occasional flash of class. I know from reading comments here over the last couple of years that effort will be appreciated as it's not always been the standout feature from some players you've had! Good luck for Leeds (and Billy) this season.
Signing confirmed. Usual fee. Phil Hay ‏@PhilHayYEP 13m Leeds United confirm the signing of Billy Sharp from Southampton. Joins on a two-year deal.
Andrew Haigh retweeted a Billy Sharp tweet from 2011 last night. He was doing a Q&A session..... Question (part 1) - "Favourite away ground ? Sharp's reply - "Elland Road" Question (part 2) - "and away support ?" Sharp's reply - "Leeds away fans brilliant"
Hopefully 3rd time lucky for Leeds with the name Billy as the preious 2 (Paynter and Bremner) were atrocious
Saints fan here: You couldn't ask for much better than Billy. He's a real poacher and will try his utmost in every single game without fail. He's just a tiny bit slow for the Premiership and he's alarmingly one-footed but he'll bang them in in the Championship again, I'm sure. I think his poor showing on loans, etc was just down to not being settled. He also comes across as a top, top bloke. One of those people whose careers you follow after they leave. fantastic signing billy sharp heard he is a good striker and he has premiership experience , cellino is god !! he is delivering better than any owner since the good old days although i still have a soft spot for ken bates who i believe saved leeds from the abbis i know some dont like him but remember he did take over leeds utd when leeds were 140 million in debt and actually turned it around to get rid of that debt , anyway back to the present and it looks good now i heard billy sharp"s name banded about on radio and they all said he was a good striker i think he did 10 goals in 18 games for southampton and has scored wherewver he has gone AND ALSO HE IS A YORKSHIRE LAD !!
Agreed with most except the bates bit. I'll think you'll find the debt was down to about 50m when he stepped in. Wiped most of it our with administration. I'd say Cellino has already put many times more money in than scumbag bates ever did. I totally agree on Cellino though. The final piece in our revival will be when he buys back Elland road
