With todays departure of DMK this is the state of play with whats left of Sunderland's dipping of the toe into the Udinese model. Just goes to show the woeful success rate of Di Canio's signings. Hits Emanuele Giaccherini (Juventus, £8.6m) -STAYING AND PLAYING Vito Mannone (Arsenal, £2m) - STAYING AND PLAYING. Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar, £6m) - STAYING, PLAYING BUT NOT SCORING (fingers crossed for next season) Charis Mavrias (Panathinaikos, £2.5m) - ''Charlie boy'' hopefully he'll make a breakthrough this season Fabio Borini (Liverpool, season-long loan) - who the fk knows. Misses Modibo Diakite (Lazio, free) - unlikely to go to fiorentina..shame i'd rather have had Alonso Duncan Watmore (Altrincham, undisclosed) - talk of a loan to hartlepool Valentin Roberge (Maritimo, free) - staying as cover Cabral (Basel, free) - may get a bit of game time...needs shifting David Moberg Karlsson (IFK Gothenburg, free) - in through the out door as jimmy page would say... a little profit. El Hadji Ba (Le Havre, undisclosed) - out on loan again, hopfully we can shift him for cash next year. Ondrej Celustka (Trabzonspor, season-long loan) - started well, fans like him but didn't really cut the mustard. Andrea Dossena (Napoli, free) - gone Ki Sung-yueng (Swansea, season-long loan) - gone
Good post Sanddancer. All in all Di Canio/Di Fanti did bring in some good signings, however he did bring in some ****e.
Personally do not think Diakhite/Roberge have had a full run in the team so couldnt really say how they could cope Watmore/Ba could come good and some loans could do them some good! Shame about DMK as I put him in the same band as Watmore/Ba Cabral looked promising but died off fairly quickly Celutska/Ki could of been brought back and done a job imo, Celutska as versatile cover and Ki as some composure in midfield Dossena can piss off like
Tbf mate ive played Footy Manager for years and I hadnt heard of any except Ki hahahaha However was able to uncover a Slovenian wonderkid called Domen Crnigoj
Regarding Championship Manager 93, I'll always remember I bought a bloke called Trevor Snowden for £1.1 million from Rochdale. His fee stood out cos Rochdale were in the old 4th division at the time! The better players at that level would cost £200000 tops! I thought I must get him! He was a left midfielder but ended up scoring 52 league goals that season! He must have been a glitch in the game cos he must have scored 85% of my goals! I ended up being forced to sell him 3 or 4 seasons later to Inter or someone like that! He insisted on going and got a disappointing £7.5 million! A lot of money in them days, but still!!!! http://clarkechroniclersfootballers.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/197-trevor-snowden.html Seems like his career didn't exactly take off in the real world!!!
I've changed the names of the cattergories and added one. Success Emanuele Giaccherini (Juventus, £8.6m) - Struggled at first, bled in correctly, great first season considering the gradual game time he clearly needed. Will play way more next season. Vito Mannone (Arsenal, £2m) - Self explanatory, he is Vito Charis Mavrias (Panathinaikos, £2.5m) - Big season, on the fringes this season, developing as expected. Fabio Borini (Liverpool, season-long loan) - Monumental performances that led to points in a relegation season. Ki Sung-yueng (Swansea, season-long loan) - A major player in helping Gus to establish his system, His composure was infectious and the rest of the team looked more comfortable when he was on the pitch, a calming reassurance. Duncan Watmore (Altrincham, undisclosed) Seen him play a few times now, really special talent for all to see, needs game time, should go out on loan. David Moberg Karlsson (IFK Gothenburg, free) - Was going to put him in the failure category but taking Sanddancer's word that we made profit then I deem that a success. If we haven't made profit it's a failure. Not prepared to be devolved by a top club, will probably play regular his whole career at a poor level. Modibo Diakite (Lazio, free) Valentin Roberge (Maritimo, free) Cabral (Basel, free) I've put these three as a success as they were free signings so some kind of profit is virtually guaranteed in either permanent transfers or loan fees. Seen something in all of them to see they could offer something at some point. Time will tell Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar, £6m) - Big make or break season for Jozy, one that will define his Sunderland career, will know more at the end of the season. El Hadji Ba (Le Havre, undisclosed) - looked good in preseason, needs game time, rightly gone on loan but should have been on the fringes like Mavrias, possibly a bit behind in his expected development. Failure Ondrej Celustka (Trabzonspor, season-long loan) - Did nowt wrong but always looked more comfortable defensively, not what Gus' system demands, not accomplished enough in the final third for me. Andrea Dossena (Napoli, free) - Good riddance, nasty little piece of s**t.
Nah he's ****, another kid by the name of Savage will keep him out of the side. Bunch of mugs coming through the youth with him as well, couple of ginger kids who look like they couldn't kick a ball to save their lives and a fancy boy who can't keep his hands out of his hair.
