Is this a desperate buy or is there something that the club can see as a potential player that can be developed into what he has not yet achieved full potential its been done before and although there is a school of thought that the price paid is over the top - who knows time will tell.
Ooh I like it. Harpenden clearly has top #banter. Back on topic, I wonder how many people will complain when Long dives three or four times a match?
Was hoping that I'd wake up and be calmer about this deal, but it turns out the fee could be even higher than we thought yesterday. Christ.
Yes, but you don't give that to one player; as Impsaint said the knock on effect would be too great for us.
I can't see us getting another forward or winger in once the Long deal is completed. In a 4-3-3 we have a lot of players to fill those front 3 positions Pelle JRod Long Gallagher Tadic Davies Ramirez JWP You could make some interesting combinations there... (I am aware JWP is likely to play cm this year it would seem but he is an option wide right as seen last year) Add Isgrove in there too.
Jeez mate. Wait til we know. It'll be better for your heart. Remember the Liverpool bids of 20m? Oh hang on they were 10m plus 5m for lallana winning the world cup and 5m for his 80th goal. If there are a lot of add-ons, I hope we end up paying every single one of them. (as long as they are about goals and league position)
True, but we wouldn't get Remy for 55-60k would we? Would we? I do wonder if Long is on 55k anyway at Hull.
Remember watching an item on Long on Sky last season and defenders hate playing against him. At 27 he's reaching his peak.
Well at first it was 10mil, then 12, now 12.5. I can't help but think we would have been better getting someone in on loan for a season and then seeing who's available next summer. Joel Campbell maybe, Liverpool could have even let us have Origi for a year, he could have done with a season in the prem.
add one word "reported" to your sentence. Whether it is 10m or 12.5m, it is too high IMO, however I don't know how that fee will be made up and I'll wait to see if that info comes out. I'll also accept it and hope that the manager sees something that fits his jigsaw. Long is not a bad player. I just don't think he is a 10m player.
Yeah, I think everyone on here can agree that it's far too much money. I can't help but thinking we'd be better off putting the money towards a winger like Lulic, Lens or could have even gone for Atsu on loan who's off to Everton. Long is going to play on the wing essentially in the 4-3-3 and when Jay Rod comes back Long will be an expensive sub.
I was upset with £10 million, £12 million was really annoying, but they obviously heard me and threw in an extra £500,000
They're signing Long at £12.5m to mentally torture the French Prisoner. From his cell he'll be able peer into the function room through two holes...the eye-holes of a portrait Les Reed on the other side, to see Long laugh and be fawned upon by the club bigwigs as a string quartet plays.
