Current word is that the Musacchio deal is not happening. Presumably the 3rd party agreements have claimed yet another Spurs transfer
"Presumably the 3rd party agreements have claimed yet another Spurs transfer" Apparently this is all about percentages. Villareal allegedly will only get 35% of the transfer fee. And with Levy on the case, that is going to be 35% of as little as possible (which is p*ssing them off) ,
Musacchio off is a blessing in disguise. I don't think he's worth twenty odd million when we have a good collection of CBs, and young ones at that. Meanwhile, I know next to nothing about Guarin, but from what little I can gather, I don't rate him. 28, rated as a good dribbler and crosser, doesn't pass well, score or tackle, fouls frequently. How is this better than Chadli, not to mention Lennon?
I am happy to go with what we have. It should take an injury catastrophe (even by Spurs physio standards) before Vert and Naughton need to be considered as starting XI LBs etc.
In other news, Yedlin is set to play for his current club tomorrow so not sure what the hold up over that is. This is almost funny because the rumours have been "Yedlin to be announced in next 48 hours" for about 5 days now. We're also really struggling to shift those on the axe list - either because they don't want to leave or we're asking too much. I can already see Poch getting frustrated with Levy
"We're also really struggling to shift those on the axe list - either because they don't want to leave or we're asking too much." Who is on that list ?? Even the gossip aggregators like newsnow are only offering Vlad as the one going.
To be fair the Yedlin deal doesn't need to be announced anytime soon, all the rumours said he won't be joining until the end of the MLS season anyway which is in January, so it actually wouldn't surprise me if the club wanted to wait until then to announce it... This is Spurs after all! The axe list is another matter though and it is pretty concerning to some extent, I'd like to know the true reasons behind it. Are the players reluctant to leave? Is Levy demanding too high a price? Is the buying club (or maybe even Poch) changing their mind? I reckon we'll likely be in for a mass exodus nearer the transfer deadline, because at that moment you can't hold too high a ransom for an un-wanted player and any play reluctant to leave will realise that a move is likely to be in their best interests if they're just going to be warming the bench or possibly not even getting that "privilege".
Cant see why there'd be any conflict between pochettino.and levy tbh. the player coming from usa aint coming in to be a first team starter so not much reason to be forced to over pay...and as for players going, levy is right to hold out as buying clubs will become desperate as the window closes and pochettino dont want them so when they go is neither here or there.
If Pochettino was to get frustrated with Levy already then he clearly isn't up to the task of being our manager (which I don't think he is) but if he was to already show frustration then it doesn't bode well for him. But I'm sure he is just interested in making his mark and any frustrations with Levy will come at a later date.
Why are people on here speculating already that there may be conflict between Pochettinno and Levy ? Because new signings arent forthcoming at the moment. Absolute tosh. Picking holes in a new regime already. Absolutely ridiculous !!
God forbid if we dont win our first few games. There will be morons on here calling for Pochettinno's head. Some of our supporters write some absolute garbage.
There where a lot of morons saying we where going to challenge for the title last year, that was garbage. Moorpheus mentioning there could be an issue between Levy and Pochettino is valid considering Levys history with managers.
Calm down - I'm just making discussion points based off what I see on other sites. This is a forum after all...
"I can already see Poch getting frustrated with Levy" - Even if you are making discussion points based off what you see on other forums why are you believing this rubbish that they write. So do you honestly think that Pochettino is becoming annoyed with Levy because we have only signed three players ? even though there is still three weeks left in the transfer window?.
Nope - you assume too much. I could maybe see him getting frustrated that our good early deals for the 3 we have signed are being offset by our inability to shift the players he doesn't want at the club (Dawson is 1 example) - Poch has already stated that the squad is too big and he wants it cut by quite a few. This despite us being interested in getting a new CB, RB, Schnerdlein and a LW. We are in a sell first buy second state at the moment because the squad is too big - if Levy is valuing our deadwood out of moves away then yeah for sure I could see Poch getting a little frustrated. Obviously Levy can't give the players away and obviously any frustration Poch may feel would be incredibly minor (seeing as how he is so new here) but if he's not able to get the squad aligned to what he wants then I think anyone would get frustrated. I don't see how this is such a strange line of thinking
In an perect world yes Poch would have liked his squad sorted now with a few days til the opening game. Im sure he would have liked Scheiderlein, JayRod, Depay, Mussachio in and have trimmed the squad of any players he deemed surplus to requirements. But your statement saying you can see Poch already getting frustrated with Levy is just pure hyperbole at its best. In fact i think you are the first person on this forum to "speculate" of unrest in our new regime.
As this is a discussion forum it's reasonable to offer all sorts for debate. You can treat them with whatever level of importance you choose. At this stage of the season all we can do is speculate, once the games start we will have a lot more amunition to debate. Stick in there Hugo.
I've seen nothing to suggest of any unrest to be honest. Man Utd have more deadwood than us to shift and haven't got rid of any either. Lots of the transfers early in the window will be concentrated on players who were at the world cup as they would be in demand. Deadwood typically don't go (or star) at the world cup. The moves will happen if that is what is needed. This window has barely even opened by Spurs' schedule. It would be nice to stump up the big bucks early to get the players in but we aren't in that position. We KNOW how to sell players, remember
We don't have too much deadwood to technically shift either in my opinion, I think one CB, one LB and possibly two CM's depending on how Poch views Holtby's future (CM or CAM?) because if he sees Holtby's future in a deeper role, that means him, Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho, Bentaleb and Carroll are fighting for just two slots. Some of those names will not be content with a place on the bench, realistically you couldn't even fit all into a match day squad either so a couple would miss out altogether. My guesses would be Dawson, Ekotto, Dembele and Carroll. Dembele being the risky departure as he has all the talent in the world yet has failed to max out his potential. I genuinely believe that his skill and strength on the ball could've put him in Yaya's league yet he seems to just let games pass him by too regularly and I think we need more consistency than the odd worldie here and there. We'd be able to recoup the £15m in my opinion, or at the very least around £12m-£13m. Dawson could easily find a new club in the Prem, I love the bloke as he's been a top player and top pro but head over heart says he won't be near the starting XI unless injuries occur. Ekotto in my opinion is currently better than both Davies & Rose but looking to the future and knowing that he's probably not in Poch's plans means he should go for his own benefit, if he can't get a top flight move over here then he'll easily get one back in France. Carroll has been mooted with another Championship loan move which I think is stuttering his growth as a player, if we can't loan him to a Prem side then I think we should cut our losses, very promising player but won't get a look in until he's truly proven himself. There will be some loan departures amongst these too, Fryers and Fredericks could do with a full season somewhere I think. Ceballos will need one. Possibly Veljkovic too.
I think we're in a better position than we were this time last year. Not as good of a position as perhaps some of us thought we were in this time last year but at this stage I think it was starting to sink in that Bale would be off. Last year we needed to replace Bale, sign a left back, at least 3 important players were injured in the long term and if you include returning loan players then we were introducing half a squad of new players by the end of the window. This season there's some disruption with returning World Cup players and a couple of injuries returning but the squad's fine in terms of numbers and balance, we're not forced to throw in a load of new players straight away and all that's left is to tinker with the squad. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic again but I'm glad we haven't got all our business done early as I think there's going to be quality players looking for a move to get first team football towards the end of the window. This team could do with a touch of real quality from a VDV type signing much more than it could do with more expensive talents in the early stages of their careers, bought from clubs that don't want to sell.
