https://twitter.com/PJBuckingham/status/499292789671460864 It's the way he writes the tweet that implied it to me.
Osvaldo is a funny one because he was a good player technically but had an attitude/anger problem and we took a risk which backfired spectacularly. Wanyama was a great prospect before he signed and while he had one or two games after his injury when he wasn't at his best he was generally very very good. Long is average at best and has been average at best for his entire career. It would be very surprising if this was a good signing.
They're the kind of signings teams in a relegation battle (like uh Hull and Aston Villa) make. Given that I don't think that's what we're preparing for, it surely just adds more evidence to the argument that we're just being poorly run.
That sounds to me like he's not convinced the interest is true. Suggesting a club wouldn't pay £12 million for someone who cost £6 million in January.
Too many of our striker targets say no or aren't for sale? So we think **** we only really have Pelle who can we get in quick!
Who knows, but something has changed to make us go from making mostly good signings to making signings like this. Probably Cortese being able to keep the reins on Reed and Pochettino having a good input.
First, it hasn't happened yet (fingers crossed). Second, anyone remember what I posted when the rumours of Koeman signing were coming out? I was told by a Dutch colleague that Koeman is excellent with young players, no money to spend, but give him millions and he has a reputation of spending it in the wrong way and the wrong areas. I hope that doesn't become true.
