No, no, he was an evil dictator, that's the story, forget the consistent upwards momentum of the team and complete lack of any sign of collapse on the horizon while he was here, take your stupid "facts" and your "logic" somewhere else.

Sure I think it's a lot of money for him but we paid £15m for a striker that didn't work...

On this basis, buying a terrible striker at the same time for 15m

Please don't joke Beefy. £12m for Long is bad enough without even thinking about that last bit.....

Fair enough. He wasn't really a terrible striker though, just a rage monster.

A reporter who reports about Hull has doubts it is 12m.

he was pretty terrible overall for us. wanyama has at times been a monster and may prove to be one long term but we didn't get a season of monster out of him either.

not that i'm in any way happy about 12m for long being bandied about.

So we're believing it's 12 million now, are we? On Jim White's say so?

Yes, of course you are. It's negative news, so it must be true. You're just gagging for something to hate the club about, aren't you?

Don't be silly. It's bad, so it must be true.

Osvaldo's far from terrible. Seems ridiculous to say it now, but he's one of the most talented players we've had in my lifetime.

Even if it's, say, eight million, a Pelle/Long strike partnership is going to i) score a pretty meagre goals total, and ii) make for some damned near unwatchable football.

I'm going with £12m because it's the most recent fee reported. I hope it's a lot lower, and think it's probably a bit lower, but I wouldn't want him for any more than £5m anyway, mainly for the reasons Schad says.

This IS unsustainable. We may well be the club that paid £12m for Shane Long. I think Ross McCormack is like Jean Marc Bosman, except a pioneer for the previously umimaged laissez faire circulation of overpriced average strikers

    WTF is this all about?
Wouldn't have considered us buying Long in a million years as we need strikers that score goals and he has proven that he doesn't do so over a number of seasons for two different clubs and internationally.
What the hell is going on?

Panic signing alert! I can only assume that bids for our primary targets have fallen on their arses.

At the beginning of the summer I remember having conversations on here about what the extra Sky money was going to do to transfer fees, well this is it in a nutshell.

What we got for Lambert now really takes the piss, sold our talisman for £4m and bought Shane ****ing Long for £12m.
